Trying to be a Vegetarian

In a perfect world, we probably wouldn't kill any living thing...not even plants -- but unfortunately, we humans need to eat other life forms in order to survive. So my philosophy is that, in the future, as people become more compassionate of other living beings beside their fellow humans, we will most likely try to eat as low on that food chain as we can; in other words, if you HAVE to eat a living creature, try to eat the creature that is least aware, starting with bugs and working your way up the chain. For me, "starting with bugs" is a bit too radical, but I understand the concept.

I'd love to be "vegan" someday (only eating vegetables and pasta), but I'm not there yet. I seldom eat meat; still eat fish regularly and try never to eat lobster -- somehow lobsters really seem to be suffering in that pot of boiling water. I eat chicken fairly regularly (I honestly believe that a chicken’s awareness is only slightly higher than that of an insect. (I’m guessing you could teach a lobster to go fetch the Sunday paper quicker than you could teach a chicken to do it. No?)

Striving to eat lower and lower on the food chain will be a major goal for the rest of my life.
