Estrogen Wednesday

Two tips for today:
1. Because green bananas are virtually inedible, and speckled bananas are only good for banana bread and fat retards, bananas really only have a short, three-day window.
As soon as your bananas reach that perfect storm mode, eat them. If you can't eat them, put most of them in the refrigerator, where they will last another four or five days. You can also peel the rest before they start turning and put them in a plastic bag in the freezer to make smoothies. (I realize most of you already knew this, but I am saying it for the benefit of knuckleheads like me who never knew the whole “banana” thing).

2. Tell your husbands who freely accept just about anybody as “friends” on Facebook, to think twice about posting those cute videos and photos of your teen-age kids on Facebook and on Internet blogs. Save that personal shit for your closest friends and your family only. (Do I really have to say this..?)

Here's something about Bananas that I'd bet most people don't know about.

Eat half a banana at bedtime for improved digestion, more relaxed breathing, and overall more restful sleep.

Thanks, Chuck! I never knew that about bananas. I like 'em yellow with very few spots if any at all. But my better half doesn't like bananas until they're mushy and gross.

Dude, you can't put bananas in the fridge! They'll turn black almost immediately!

Dude. The skins turn black, but if you have put them in during the perfect three-day window, the insides will stay wonderful. Stop telling me something I already know and have already tried. (Of course, you could try it yourself and save all this cyber-energy.)

Some banana varieties need to turn black before they fully ripen. The standard commercial variety Cavendish is not one of those. But the Cavendish may not be around much longer.
