I don't think he is a weirdo or an idiot at all. He is a very smart man with strong convictions and in this instance he is correct. If the Dems don't push this through, and I hope they won't, Obama won't be able to get anything done. Because there will be change this fall. Personally I have disliked Mike Moore since "Roger and Me". But then again I work for a GM dealership.
Sidenote: My health insurance is being changed for the 4th time in 9 years because plan costs are so staggering. My copay is $7200 a year. Many of my customers are Physicians who blame the high cost on the Massachussetts health insurance experiment. In other words we are subsidizing Mass Health. Extrapolate, what will happen if we do this on a Nationwide basis? Do you think our costs will be lowered? There is no free lunch! Someone has to pay for it.

I heard a lot of this on the Diane Rehm show yesterday, and it was interesting to hear him talk about how his background and current life are so conservative. Parents married for life, still goes to Mass on Sunday, been with the same woman over thirty years. Then later on I was listening to Karl Rove on Fresh Air and he has this terribly traumatic background. His father abandoned his family, then he is raised by another man who is rumored to be gay, which may have been the cause of his mother's second divorce. His mother later committed suicide. Rove is twice divorced himself.

I also find it interesting how the righthas managed to disparage Moore as a danger to the American way of life. People need to go out and rent "Roger and Me" to see that he was always on the side of the middle class and was always trying to warn us about exactly what is happening to us now.
