Thanks for the enlightenment!I missed this when it was released in '78, being 17 and devoted to "arena rock"! I thought of Dylan and Knopfler first. Love that stratocaster twang with the engaging lyrics - shades of Richard Thompson? Really enjoyed this! Thanks!
In my fantasy scenario, Gibbons is talking about an actual bunker (a bomb shelter) and the song takes place in a future time when there isn't much left of the outside world... and he finds himself in this bunker with a beautiful... Well- you can take it from there.
I like this song. And thanks for the tip that a bunker is a sand trap. I could only think of a bunker like the type Charles thought of. Except well, I wasn't really fantasizing like Charles.
At least now I understand the song. Thanks guys.

In England "bunker" means sand trap.

Duh. In America, bunker also means sand trap; golf terms are kind of universal.

That would work, except for all those other pesky golf references (balls, etc.)

I loved this album when I was a kid. "No Spitting on the Bus" was my favorite.
