My Very First Interview

I had just started my rock career as a DJ at KPPC-FM (now KROCK L.A.) in Pasadena, CA. It was November of 1968, and there I was at my first "record promotion" party at Capitol Records in Hollywood, to celebrate the release of the upcoming White Album by the Beatles. While standing in line to get some of the catered free food, I noticed I was right next to George Harrison. I took a deep breath and asked him if he would do an interview with us (KPPC-the little guys in the radio business) Underground FM.. He said yes! The next thing I knew, there we were- myself, a DJ named Don Hall and a salesman named Andy- in a room alone with George Harrison and a shitty tape recorder. I was a little stoned and a lot nervous, because I had never done an interview before (and my first interview had to be with this guy. Don was the pro of the group, so he did most of the talking. I mumbled slower and a lot "softer" then usual- maybe because I was so dumbstruck. Here's what it was like back then.

You're missing the front part where you say ">hack hack< is this thing on?"

This is fun. It's like I'm playing "Who's more stoned???" Was that Don who kept saying I saw MMT 5 times AND in color?? That was funny.

Very cool that your first interview was with George Harrison and pretty funny as well. You sould like the hippy DJ on the old National Lampoon Radio Hour.
