Please read this: The Venus argument.

Having read the above, I still don't buy into the (Venus) rationale:

“I'm kind of over all this '“child abuse' stuff that it seems only women (about 99% of the time anyway) rail on about. I am not a psychology major, so I can't even begin to argue with these people- but I no longer enjoy engaging or participating in the dialogue presented. I'm not trying to be hard-headed about it, and I could be very wrong, but it would really take a lot more convincing examples (and several legitimate case histories) of how most poor boys are actually 'destroyed' by these “lascivious and malicious older “role-models to convince me. I honestly believe it is a different situation when you factor in 'gender' and the realities of present-day social-stigma. *
(I mean, just ask any guy.. It's 90% in the other direction.)
Maybe it's that those who see these scenarios in black and white terms have a completely different set of survival mechanisms, which clouds their objectivity, causing transference and a lack of unfettered empathy.“
Or maybe we men are just not as evolved....

*In the case of the main character in the Reader- I would venture to say that he had more personal issues than the fact that he fell in love with an older woman.

Poll Shows Obama's Clout on Health Care Is Eroding

30Poll.Inline.190

President Obama's ability to shape the debate on health care
appears to be eroding as opponents aggressively portray the
effort as a government-takeover that could limit Americans'
ability to chose their doctor and course of treatment,

according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Americans are concerned that overhauling the health care
system would reduce the quality of their care, increase their
out-of-pocket health costs and tax bills and limit their
options in choosing doctors, treatment and tests, the poll found.

The Italian Tomato Garden

An old Italian lived alone in New Jersey . He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard.
His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot.. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love, Papa

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Pop,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried.
Love,
Vinnie

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.

That same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Pop,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love you,
Vinnie

Being the pinko, commie liberal that I am, I normally would be on the side of Skip Gates in this case, (especially since my Messiah, Obama, called the Cambridge Police “stupid..”) but this time I'm putting my chips on the other side of the board.

Skip, you mouthed off!

The president’s characterization of the officer’s action as “stupid” misses the mark; “calculated” and maybe even “unjust,” it was, but “stupid” it wasn’t. Police officers in America overreact everyday, for the same reason dogs lick their nuts — because they can.”

Should there be a stamp?

Final Word before moving on..

All this stuff aside, raise your glasses and give a major shout-out to the actual backbone of the station: the hundreds of people (on the air and off) who worked there over the years.
WBCN was more than just a place to work. All the people who worked there were family. Depending on when you started listening, you may know their names- some of the behind-the-scenes folk you may never know, but most importantly, without them, there wouldn't be much to talk about, really. Not trying to sound sappy, but that is the reality.

The Final Word: MJ is buried and it is over.

Sometime this week, those of us who saw the Michael Jackson Memorial on TV should take a moment to give thanks that we were not among the less fortunate who couldn't watch (or chose not to watch) this incredible event. This will go down in history as one the greatest musical and artistic tributes ever: The artists who performed, the emotions conveyed, the eulogies evoked, the professionalism of everyone involved, the miracle of putting such a huge undertaking together in such a short time window- all nothing short of incredible... and it moved along a lot faster than the Academy Awards!

(Two careers to watch: blonde guitarist Orianthi bio here- and next week's Big Mattress Song of the Week artist, Judith Hill.)
...and lastly, the final word on Michael's strange color change over the years.

RIP, MJ.
Over and out.

Kids These (and Those) Days..

Images-17Images-1-5

I said all this on my radio show many years ago, and i still feel the same way.

To all the Michael Jackson lynch mob:

Eccentric? Yes. Guilty? Hmmm
Just listen to yourselves:

You are absolutely positive the guy was guilty..

Forget the, “not guilty on every count” trial result; and forget the absolute and total demolition of the “key witnesses” by the defense; forget the statements of his REAL friends (not you media-whore judges) who actually knew him (and who still maintain strongly that he was innocent; forget the total and unconditional support of the people of high integrity- (not the idiots who leeched off him); forget the incredible no-holds-barred documentary that showed exactly how this “molestation accusation” went down- and why Jackson made that fateful decision to pay off the accuser..

Ask yourselves this one question:

If you had the golden opportunity to make millions of dollars by suing someone for something they may never have done- but could never really be disproved because the subject was so taboo that the accusation alone was an automatic “guilty” verdict to most of the public- would you go for it? (I mean, a million dollars is a lot of money... )

Forget all that deeper digging and - and just stay the innuendo course, people.

Go grab your cowboy hats and a long rope and you'll be cast immediately.

One of the most unfortunate results of the OJ fiasco (coupled with the media's need for sensationalism) is that it is now virtually impossible for anyone to be judged innocent until proven guilty- not now or in the near future, for sure.

..and by the way, I agree- it's time for the media to move on and start giving us real news and information again. There's a lot of important stuff going on out there that they are not covering.

Click below to read Facebook comments:

Honestly, just bury the didler/freak show and move on. There's more important things going on in the world than this clown.

...and yet some how the world is finding this clown didler/freak show something they want to pay respect to from near and far....hmmmm, seems pretty damn important to the world of all the things going on!

Sara Mariano Dalicandro at 6:45am July 7
I think all the people going crazy over this are just as creepy as MJ himself. Have they said for sure who is going to pay for this freak show in LA when it's over - The Jacksons? I doubt it.

James Trudo at 7:18am July 7
Couldn't agree more, just a bunch of Obama's no job lackies with nothin else to do but wait in line to see this freak

Renee Greene at 7:23am July 7
Oh yeah those Obama lackies from Japan, UK, Brazil, Germany...oh yeah, US! That Obama and his lackies from around the world showing up with nothing better to do.

Kevin Flaherty at 7:44am July 7
MJ is indefensible. I don't care if he could whistle God Bless America out of his ass, you touch a kid, you deserve every bad thing that can happen to you.

Charles Laquidara at 8:16am July 7
Eccentric? Yes. Guilty? Hmmm
Just listen to yourselves:
You are absolutely positive the guy was guilty.. Forget the, “not guilty on every count...

Renee Greene at 10:14am July 7
Good job, Charles! Innocent until proven guilty. He was not proven guilty and yet everyone feels free to call him a "Kid Diddler". You don't even know the man, you only know what others feel like saying, because it makes them feel important. Anyway, he's dead now, so why don't you haterz just leave him alone. As far as getting back to the real news... Read More

Sara Mariano Dalicandro at 11:14am July 7
Accused once - ok, but accused twice - hmmmm....

Kevin Flaherty at 11:19am July 7
He touched the world alright, one kid at a time. Just because you can sing and dance, doesn't make you any better than anyone else.

Marc D. Cappello at 11:29am July 7
Let's not forget who's paying for this fiasco either. 4 million bucks for a state which is dead broke? Hello!!!! If the Jackson's wanted this for their brother than they should have payed for it. Why should the people of L.A. pay for this? I don't care if you have the great wall of China in between you. Sleeping with 12 year olds is a flat out disgrace. It creeps me out just writing it. I guess O.J. was innocent too right?

Charles Laquidara at 11:30am July 7
When there's literally millions of dollars at stake, I would think there should have been more accusers... I mean he did invite hundreds of kids to his home and he did get right there in bed with lots of them. Let's start there and work our way down.

Charles Laquidara at 11:31am July 7
Kevin- you go, boy.
You may just be onto something.
Stay the course, dagnabbit!
lol

Charles Laquidara at 11:34am July 7
Marc:
Re: your predictable OJ comment...
Did you even bother to READ what is being said here?
Hey, I'm out of this thread. Time to move on, folks.

Marc D. Cappello at 11:41am July 7
I'm reading tax payers are going to pay 4 million bucks for this jackson send off. Talk about a waste.

Renee Greene at 11:47am July 7
hmmmm....what mother lets her kid sleep in a room with a grown man? one that wants a big payoff! touched or not, the mother's a whore! MJ is so lucky he won't have to deal with such crap like that anymore, RIP, Michael!

Marc D. Cappello at 11:49am July 7
Sure, so let's not talk about the guy(Jackson) who was willing to sleep with that boy. HHHHMMMMMM

Charles Laquidara at 12:12pm July 7
Marc D.- You're making the case FOR Michael right now. You are
this-s-s-s close to making the case that MJ was an eccentric guy who (to his own eventual misfortune) made his own decision to defy modern society's taboos and who was absolutely guilty of getting in bed with kids. And if he happens to get accused of doing anything MORE than that- well then, he is totally guilty- no matter what the facts, findings, friends and family say.
My old, Italian grandfather was like that, so I get it.
(Did i say i'm off this thread? Sorry, I'll go now.)
