Hang a red flag on it.
“I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it.”
- John Stuart Mill, letter to the Conservative MP, Sir John Pakington (March, 1866)

As the Minneapolis/St. Paul City Pages points out, Bachmann has the 1970s flu outbreak all wrong. It happened in 1976 when Gerald Ford was in office. This also shows a glaring glitch in Bachmann's historical understanding. She could have easily referred back to the infamous 1918 Spanish flu pandemic -- Democrat Woodrow Wilson was president at that time; but what do facts matter when we have a sensationalism-motivated, ratings-hungry media..

1. An epidemic is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time (It is a disease that quickly and severely affects a large number of people and then subsides. Throughout the Middle Ages, successive epidemics of the plague killed millions).
2. A disease that is continually present in an area, but affects a relatively small number of people is endemic.
3. A pandemic is a widespread epidemic that may affect entire continents, or even the world.
The pandemic of 1918 ushered in a period of frequent epidemics of gradually diminishing severity. Thus, from an epidemiologist’s point of view, the Black Death in Europe and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa are pandemics rather than epidemics.
4. What is occurring at this time is being labeled a pandemic.
Wash your hands a lot and cover your coughs, folks- We have an adventurous ride ahead... and don't be embarrassed about wearing one of those little drugstore masks when you board a plane.
(To look at this in a kind of quasi-Machiavellian way, the ongoing situation is totally horrific- but, ironically, seems to be just another in a series of lucky events for Obama. This will be a huge distraction for the media that may actually make the Prez's path to solving our current crises a bit smoother; as the whiners, obstructionists and naysayers will be panicking in a different direction by default.)

Just before leaving both the group (and the planet of reality), as the key member of what many consider to be the greatest of Fleetwood Mac's several incredible lineups, Peter Green played guitar and vocals on this song, The Green Manalishi- which he wrote while allegedly high on hallucinogens- and also highly disappointed that the other members wouldn't give their earnings back to society! This was Peter's last performance with Fleetwood Mac in Boston: Live at the Boston Tea Party in 1970.

Red Sox: Playing as well as any Sox team of the past, so far. They have all the ingredients: speed, pitching, slugging, and the savvy to make the most out of any situation! (Just ask the Yankees).
Downside: Lugo for Drew? It's a wash. They both scare me...
Celtics: Who would have thought... Injuries make them this year's Cinderella team if they can go all the way.
Bruins: We had them on the radar screen five months ago. Didn't know if their youth and lack of experience could take them through the grueling last 20 games of the season. (Can you say, Stanley Cup?)
N.E. Patriots: Now that they have kicked ass in the latest draft, they might possibly be even better this season than the 2007 18-1 team. Brady is in best shape of his career. Look at the schedule. Do the math.

Musicologist and BCN fan Mike Andrade takes us forward into the past with a program called An American Revolution. Recorded off the airwaves of WBCN on March 15th,1988. On that particular night, BCN was doing a 20th anniversary show. Several former jocks came into the studio at 1265 Boylston Street in Boston, to remember how it all started.
(It was over 41 years ago and it still sounds great!) Stuff from this show includes hippie-laced radio commercials and the broadcast of the very beginning of Underground Rock Radio in Boston.
You'll hear excerpts from Day One- the transition from classical music on the Boston Concert Network to the very first rock song ever played on 104.1 on that very eventful night at 10:30 PM. Enjoy.

Those were the days, my friend...
"What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it.
If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence."
-- Bertrand Russell

Stay fresh.. All day.... (and night)... with Woomba.
I remember Nov 22, 1963 like it was yesterday.. I remember the far Right becoming more and more frustrated with JFK; I remember the billboards, the signs, the newspaper ads and the talk-radio hate shows leading up to that day in Dallas.Today it's the hate-spewing radio and TV talk shows, the frighteningly venomous quotes from real people (maybe our neighbors) on YouTube comment pages and the lying mis-informational emails circulating Cyberspace.
No longer is it simple political discussions- people having different opinions and arguing their viewpoints- it's much deeper than that now.. Am I the only one hearing what is going on out there?
(I do not want to think what I am thinking... I am just sayin'...)
I am just prayin'...
I have been here before.
Long after others in his administration have gracefully made their exit, Vice President Dick Cheney is still in the spotlight, criticizing President Obama on FOX News interviews every few days. This might just be because..
If Attorney General Eric Holder moves forward with an investigation as to whether there should be prosecutions on the tortures authorized during the George W. Bush era, guess who would be #1 on the list?
(hint: It would not be George W.)
(Someone sent me this, saying it would be a great post for Estrogen Wednesday- but I am not sure. I am taking no chances. I'll post it here and let others decide).

Tell me what is wrong?
So you feel that we've all moved on
And you're feeling so alone?
Kids can be cruel
You know that's fair to say
But remember when the kids once said
You were queen of the waves upon the ocean bed
You were the dream boat pedalo
But now that's all in the past
But let me tell you that this loneliness will pass
And be a part of the past also
So for now dust down your weary sails
For tomorrow is a bright new day
With someone waiting in the wings
To pedal with you upon the ocean waves

Hi. My name is Duane Ingalls Glasscock and I'm a friend of Charles Lahkindora.
Some smartass TV wiseguys looking for hight ratings for there shows are trying to stir up trouble again,
so they are taking a lame poll witch has no crediblty at all because its a setup for all those losers who did the gay tea party parade the other day (to protest rich people getting taxed) to go out and vent again because they don't have a life since Januery 20th.
Anyways, you all should click here and vote (only once), to try to offset the gigantec NeoCON assroots movement to make our Prez's first 100 days look bad.
The colorful pitcher talked to baseballs, smoothed the mound with his hands and high-fived teammates in the middle of the diamond. He had one terrific season in 1976, and after injuries curtailed his career—just five years in the majors with the Detroit Tigers— he lived and died on his farm in Northborough, Mass., where he enjoyed driving his truck and using it for building projects.

1.Is snopes.com really objective?
2. Are illegals costing more than the Iraq War?
3. Is Arlen Spector (the author of the JFK “single-bullet” theory) misfiring in his latest ads?
Okay- Here's an absolutely true story- and it happened very recently.
Before you click on the links below, here are few things you should know:
First: I have a long-time buddy from Oahu, Hawai'i. His name is Dee Anduha. Dee is part Portuguese, (I am Italian) and we always kid each other about that and about a million other things, all the time, like guys so often do.
Second: I had made plans to spend a weekend (platonically, of course) with a woman named Karen, whom I had never officially met in person. (We had chatted and emailed for a long time, and we were both looking forward to meeting each other).
Third: My iPhone Address Book had somehow duplicated Dee's phone number and then automatically inserted it under two different names. One was in Dee's name.. and the other.... Well, if you read the text messages below, you will figure it out (and probably faster than I did!):
So, there I am, having lunch with a few friends, and all of a sudden, I get this text message on my iPhone: Caller ID: Dee Anduha.
(I am the green bubble- Dee is the light grey bubble)
Text Message Number 1.
Text Message Number 2
Text Message Number 3
P.S. (Anybody want to go kayaking this weekend? I got nothing planned.)
But it wasn't always that way..
With our economy looking so bleak, this great offer comes at the most opportune time!
