Yesterday's BCN on-air phone-in

Some of the people who heard my hour on BCN Monday were saying they didn't like the way Hardy handled it. Everything Hardy did was choreographed by him, me, Carter and Cha-Chi beforehand. I must take total blame if he came off badly. It really was my hour to produce exactly the way I wanted and if it came off like he was being rude, that's the way I set it up. Please pass it on-

He wasn't that bad at all and imo it could have been a lot worse had he been "condescending." Like a funeral home attendant.
I thought your show went very well and enjoyed it very much - the whole four days have been wonderful really. Although I miss the sexy voice of Anne Cody and had hoped she may have had a moment to appear.

Charles your hour went fine. I'd like an explanation about the lack of mentioning of one integral DJ by virtually everybody except you and Ken. I speak of Mark Parenteau. An explanation should have been made as to who, wether it was Mark who didn't want to participate, or CBS who didn't want him to participate in the BCN farewell.

If that's how it was choreographed beforehand you guys nailed it on air. Anyone know where Sol is?

Charles:

the hour was great! i also love the fact that stern only got to record a 2 minute message, but, he didnt build the station up from nothing either so I guess there is justice in the world. so so sad that the staion is gone

So you really weren't going to watch Hung with your coffe clutch?

awsome, totally sick. i hung on every word you said. loved hearing all of the names. speaking of max i listened every day to her full show hanging on to the edge of my joint just waiting for the next aerosmith song.i was an aerosmith fan back when they were the house band at the fenway theater. i think also you got it right about change and "bcn. when you signed off yesterday with your tag line, to me it was "bcn sighning off for ever, and i shut the radio off and said good buy to an old and deer friend. charles, max, humana, what everyone went on to do and become is in the change you talk about.you all now occupy a happy place in my memories,as i too have learned to accept change.

I missed the segment with Charles. Does anyone know if there's a copy online?

The station hasn't sounded this good in years. The other day I heard Black Sabbath, Silver Sun Pickups, Green Day, Deep Purple, and Think Tree all in the same hour or two. Nobody does that anymore, and BCN hasn't done it since the 80s...probably says a lot about why it's going off the air.

Anyone who listened realized what was going on, Charles, and it was brilliant. Listening to the "BCN" tribute has made me remember *why* I got into radio, and makes me realize how sad I am that deregulation in 96 f--ked it all up.

As they said on air, if you didn't get that it was a joke, you probably didn't get the Big Mattress in the first place!

Nice reference to Mark. He's done his time and it's time to move on.

Go back on today Charles.

It was a great hour, Charles and you should have no regrets. Best of all, I loved hearing Duane one last time as he teased your appearance!

Charles, Ty, It is too bad Corporate greed and deregulation killed radio. I watch you as a kid with my Dad on the Ob deck at the Pru. you guys taught me comedy and the history of music. I miss you as a if a family member. Youth today has no idea how to rebel. There is no button the "clicker" to argue.

What a bunch of ass kissers

BCN finally found it's winning format!
Too bad it was the same format as 1978!
Great Hour Charles! And thanks for hooking me up with a great forgotten song.
Jim Pepper's "Witchitai-to"

Water spirit feelings
Springin' round my head
Makes me feel glad
That I'm not dead

Alan, You are soooooo right. The last 48 were great radio. If programming had been that for the last few years we wouldnot be reading this now. That was some of the best damn radio I have heard in years. Real People , Real stories great music and no mutton heads trying to hard to make a name.

I will never forget winning the daily question on 'Morning Mishegash" in 1980. I actually STILL have the pair of Birkenstocks that were the prize. I moved to California, then Colorado, and now I've been living in Upstate New York for over 20 years, but always tuned into 104.1 FM whenever I went home to Boston to see family. My how it changed once it went corporate. Money ruins everything. Googling around I was delighted to find Laughing Goose on the 'net....and am sad to hear that 'BCN is now no more. It's appropriate that this is the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock and I am about to turn 56 (egads1)....my youth is well and truly gone, but my heart will always rock on. Charles: I wish you clear skies and good sailing; Thanks for all the great years of music and memories. Farewell friends.
