The Final Word: MJ is buried and it is over.

Sometime this week, those of us who saw the Michael Jackson Memorial on TV should take a moment to give thanks that we were not among the less fortunate who couldn't watch (or chose not to watch) this incredible event. This will go down in history as one the greatest musical and artistic tributes ever: The artists who performed, the emotions conveyed, the eulogies evoked, the professionalism of everyone involved, the miracle of putting such a huge undertaking together in such a short time window- all nothing short of incredible... and it moved along a lot faster than the Academy Awards!

(Two careers to watch: blonde guitarist Orianthi bio here- and next week's Big Mattress Song of the Week artist, Judith Hill.)
...and lastly, the final word on Michael's strange color change over the years.

RIP, MJ.
Over and out.

It was all of that until Al Sharpton spoke.

I watched from beginning to end and came away feeling that an extra day of rehearsals would have made for a much better memorial.

I'm with Charles. It wasn't supposed to be a high priced show, it was a farewell to a good friend. I felt like the family reached out to let me be included even though I never had the opportunity to meet them. I hope most of your readers felt the same.

they discovered during the autopsy that 90% of Michael Jackson was made of plastic. They had him made into legos so kids could play with him for a while.

Good one, David. Haven't heard that one in two days.

Charles do you have any more info on Orinthia ? Seems everyone saw her in the MJ rehearsal video and nobody's heard of her?
Very interesting.

the only question i have, since no one else brought it up, is...how is weird al supposed to make a living now? i mean, face it, his muse is gone...

I'm with you chuck, It was one of the most incredible broadcasts ever seen anywhere by anybody. period. Before that, I really never gave a shit one way or the other. His music was cool some times and all the media and all that, well, it was what it was. I have a new respect for MJ and his whole family, you can not fake what was said and done on that program. Brook Shields? common guys, that was far out. HIs daughter, Paris, I still cry just thinking about it, I won't watch that part ever again, its just to heart wrenching for me. Right on MJ
