Big Mattress Song of the Week

If you were at a small club in Syracuse in 1971, could you have spotted that this skinny kid from California was going to be a big star? This was a year before he recorded his first LP. The song is called, "These Days" and it had already been covered by Nico of the Velvet Underground (with whom our soon-to-be star had a brief affair).
If that song doesn't ring a bell, and you want another hint- listen to this song (which you should recognize instantly):

there's something special about a musician - one person with one instrument ... Thanks Charles.

Dear Chuckkkkkk!!!;

Just celebrated my Roger Maris birthday, yesterday, and for some reason went back in time to reassess.
Your name came to mind, from when I worked in Boston '81-'83 building the CATV system there. I never thanked you for all the enjoyment you, your whacked out crew of characters, and WBCN provided me then.
THANK YOU !!
I had been on the air, for the better part of the last 2 1/2yrs, though not now, would like to get back on, bit am in need of mentoring.
There's no reason why you should want to; just taking a stab at it.
It's scary out there, on AM radio, especially with few Progressive voices. I'd just like to be one of them.
Again, Thanks for Boston.

Jonathan
