“I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it.”
- John Stuart Mill, letter to the Conservative MP, Sir John Pakington (March, 1866)

As the Minneapolis/St. Paul City Pages points out, Bachmann has the 1970s flu outbreak all wrong. It happened in 1976 when Gerald Ford was in office. This also shows a glaring glitch in Bachmann's historical understanding. She could have easily referred back to the infamous 1918 Spanish flu pandemic -- Democrat Woodrow Wilson was president at that time; but what do facts matter when we have a sensationalism-motivated, ratings-hungry media..

Rep. Bachmann's cluelessness has gotten so bad that the Democratic National Campaign Committee just launched the "Bachmann Watch" web site at http://www.dccc.org/page/content/bachmannwatch which features "Bachmann vs. the Truth" (and not Paul Pierce).
