Definitions for our Time

Snoutbreak '09 - The Last 100 Days

1. An epidemic is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time (It is a disease that quickly and severely affects a large number of people and then subsides. Throughout the Middle Ages, successive epidemics of the plague killed millions).
2. A disease that is continually present in an area, but affects a relatively small number of people is endemic.
3. A pandemic is a widespread epidemic that may affect entire continents, or even the world.
The pandemic of 1918 ushered in a period of frequent epidemics of gradually diminishing severity. Thus, from an epidemiologist’s point of view, the Black Death in Europe and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa are pandemics rather than epidemics.
4. What is occurring at this time is being labeled a pandemic.

Wash your hands a lot and cover your coughs, folks- We have an adventurous ride ahead... and don't be embarrassed about wearing one of those little drugstore masks when you board a plane.
(To look at this in a kind of quasi-Machiavellian way, the ongoing situation is totally horrific- but, ironically, seems to be just another in a series of lucky events for Obama. This will be a huge distraction for the media that may actually make the Prez's path to solving our current crises a bit smoother; as the whiners, obstructionists and naysayers will be panicking in a different direction by default.)

So your saying Swine Flu is good for the economy. I suppose if it kills off all of the GM retirees, GM could stop paying pensions and maybe I can by a Trans Am some day.

I guess I read a different article than Bob did...

Charles – you really need to expand you reading past the usual yellow liberal journalism ( and I use the term journalism loosely) Again you refer to those who do not see things your way as whiners, obstructionist and nay Sayers. From my perspective your party does their share of whining, obstructing, lying, flip flopping, cheating, creating false crises and hypocrisy. The Clintons mastered the art and this administration has taken it several steps further. We can not express our views without people like you attempting to demonize us, we can not peacefully demonstrate without being called radicals, we can not object to acts of this administration without being labeled as whackos. You spent years ridiculing and belittling George Bush and everyone in his administration and you seem to think that was patriotic. Your people labeled Sarah Palin as a cunt – and somehow that was deemed acceptable. Biden has the nerve to say it’s patriotic to pay your taxes but somehow he only paid 17 percent this year. Obama can’t speak correctly without a teleprompter but you say nothing after spending years tearing apart Bush for every mispronunciation.

Obama still can’t brag about any accomplishments, instead he continues cloud the issues by blaming the previous administration for everything. Isn’t he the one who said we need to move forward, but yet he only points out the past. Isn’t he the one who said every executive order he signed would be posted on the internet for public discussion for five days as he signed them left and right. Isn’t he the one who said he would reach across the aisle but now finds it to be an inconvenience. Isn't he the one who said his administration would be accountable for their actions but seems to have an excuse for every mis-step.If the Mexican museum curator died the day after meeting Bush you would have accused his administration of planting the swine flu virus. Come to think of it, I believe the first diagnosed case was around the 12th of April – about the time the secret service would have arrived in Mexico City. Maybe this is merely a ploy to extend heath care to Mexico. I can go on for hours but it seems it will not matter to you and your narrow thought process. I submit that you are the whiner, you are the obstructionist, you are the hypocrite, you are the boy who cries wolf.

Your right – Obama is lucky there is another distraction – it gives the liberal media something else to cram down the throats of the sheep while they ignore this administrations inept movements.

Swine flu or 2 meaningless wars???

Rich:
Go read the Last of the Mohigans and figure out where you are vs. the modern world.

>> Rich: "I can go on for hours but it seems it will not matter to you... "<<

Yes, you can, and no it doesn't.

Imagine that, I actually agreed with the screed!

"Obama still can’t brag about any accomplishments"??!!??

The problem with obama is that he is no different than bush.

the iraq war policy has not changed. we are still there protecting big business interests and will still be there until a world war three throws us out.

we have expanded the bush imperialsm policy with a massive buildup into afghanistan under the totally preposterous notion that terrorism exists over there and we must stop it before it is on our shores. I contend there are two major reason we are there, pipelines and heroin.

obama continues the insane bush policy of looting the american taxpayer to bailout big business. the sheer magnitude of this looting is so uncomprehensible to the everday citizen that most people have no clue that we are subjecting our children to indentured servitude.

100 days has passed and what i have seen so far indicates another puppet of big business

smoke another fattie chuck and take off the blinders, smell the coffee

one other point: the flu epidemic of 1917 infected an estimated 1 billion people with estimated 20-100 million deaths. (wickipedia)

i wonder if stewart knows
