Big Mattress Song of the Week
Just before leaving both the group (and the planet of reality), as the key member of what many consider to be the greatest of Fleetwood Mac's several incredible lineups, Peter Green played guitar and vocals on this song, The Green Manalishi- which he wrote while allegedly high on hallucinogens- and also highly disappointed that the other members wouldn't give their earnings back to society! This was Peter's last performance with Fleetwood Mac in Boston: Live at the Boston Tea Party in 1970.
Below is the psychedelic YouTube video.

What happened to Fleetwood Mac? The lineup of the band was always changing, going in new directions -- then when they hit it big, they stayed the same for over 30 years. Playing "Go Your Own Way" forever may be lucrative, but it's boring. They've now become as exciting as an ABBA tribute band.

I always liked the Judas Priest version better. Cool video though.

Here is a good live version from the mid 70's probably when Peter Green toured with the band after Danny Kerwin went off the deep end and Jeremy Spencer wandered off and joined a cult before a show. Amazing he can still sound awesome without any other guitars filling in the sound and singing to boot.

I'd like to chip in here and say that Peter still records and performs every now and then- often doing lots of Robert Johnson and pure blues stuff with Nigel Watson.
Even though Lindsey Buckingham is a
fabulous guitar player- Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac really did the blues thing well- so well they recorded 2 albums in Chicago-by the way- the "Dave Mason" Fleetwood mac was totally awful...

when it comes to blues, i'll take Green over god (clapton), any day. get deep into early Mac or John Mayall after clapton left...you'll see why "clapton is god" was soon replaced by "green is better than god!".
