Your Two Cents

“I am a long time listener, and long time follower on the web. I just wanted to send you a quick review of the Geils show last night.
The guys have gotten older (haven't we all) but the show was GREAT. Each band member was given a chance to shine and shine they did.

Boston has long needed a large rock club that can hold 1000-2000 people to hold the moderate size bands. Pretty much since the Channel closed we have been missing that. The Orpheum is great and all but some bands just belong in a club not a theater! I hope they last!

I either worked for the J. Geils Band or their record company ever since the Sanctuary album.I now live in California and could not make the show (which killed me)...so thanks so much to whoever posted the videos of the show....I spoke to Wolf yesterday and he said the band had a blast !!! and from the reviews it appears true..I was told by someone who was there that it was one of those special nights where there will 30,000 people swear they were there that night.. some of the most joyful moments I have had were being at a J.Geils live show....they are a true American musical treasure...Charles I heard everyone from The Master Blaster to Al Perry were there !!! thanks for posting the video.

I am still in awe of how fantastic this show was. It was 1974 all over again. The band was tight, Duke Levine was a great compliment. Wolf's energy level a wonder of nature. The John Lee Hooker story was a keepah..."I knocked on John Lee's door at the Lenox hotel. He said come on in Wolf. There he was, on the bed, in his boxers, bottle of Fleishman's & pack of Kools on the bedstand, guitar on his bed, the tv's on, and he's watching Lassie! Hooker turns to me & says, that's one motherf%&$ing smart dog!"

Wassiingggg!!!!

Thanks for that quote Mr. Vader. Made me feel like I was there...and that I coughed up the bucks to go.

I was just listening to the mp3 that you posted of Danny Klein's birthday reunion the other day. It sounded great!! I didn't know they are touring. I didn't even know The Channel closed. Thanks for the video and article.

Tom Couchhhhhh!!!! Darth Vader, that is a classic Hooker story that Wolf has been telling for years ...one time Hooker was playing the the old Jonathan Swifts in Harvard Square...Wolf and I show up and Hooker and his band are doing a vamp with a Bo Diddley beat..duh,duhduhduh,duhduh,etc..and he say.."My friend Peter Wolf..come on up" and Wolf jumps on stage with the band and they continue the beat.. and Hooker leaves the stage !!!!Finally Wolf ends it and we go backstage and John Lee is sitting back there with some 20 year old Cambridge Hippie chick drinking whiskey !!!! and looks up and say "Wolf...how you been..." It was hysterical...
