If this "stimulus bill" works then even the biggest non-believers such as myself will have to admit that Obama is a hell of alot smarter than the average President, but, if it doesn't then i will forever believe it was a pork bill for organiaztions like acorn which is getting $4.1 BILLION in taxpayer money

Memory Man:
There is a “catchword” in your criterion for the stimulus plan: I believe it is the word “works”... What constitutes “works”? How will you define, “works”? How long will you give? What's to stop you, a year from now (or if it takes two years)- What's to stop you from saying what Republicans are already planning on saying: “That's how our American economy works- up and down- it was going to rebound anyway, with or without Obama's plan?” Will you sign a statement that you will not cop out that way?

I'm absolutely convinced Judd Gregg was a set up from the start. As I understand it, it was he who approached Obama for the position, it was he who called the press conference to reject the position and Obama's policies, it was he who brainstormed with the Republicans before making the announcement, it was the Republicans who lauded the idea of him being in the Cabinet , "reaching across the aisle". I think it was all a Republican plan from Day One to embarrass Obama and instill doubt in the public's mind as to Obama's capabilities because they'd be hard pressed to find his sperm on some woman's dress.

I will say success would be a + anything GDP, a reduction in the unemployment rate of anything under 7% or a DJIA over 10,000 by 12/31/09. The idea of job created "or preserved" is the same kind of cop out. If we see no real improvement you can count on some Democrats to say, "but without the stimulus package it would have been so much worse".Is that the same kind of cop out or are all of these opinions, on both sides, possibly
true? We can't decide now that it worked or didn't depending which side we are on. Don't like my measure of success? Let's hear another.

Memory Man, The claim that ACORN is receiving over $4 billion, let alone anything, from this package is a completely fabricated falsehood.

It has been disseminated to play to racist rubes who will happily consume any story that implies Obama is just waiting for his chance to funnel the proceeds of the treasury to African -American crime gangs. This bunkum has been exposed by Media Matters. As ever, FOX News played an essential role in the spreading of this ham-handed attempt to promote fear of a black president.
Here is a link to the debunking. http://mediamatters.org/items/200901290026

Barry

I hope the stimulus package works

but hoping and reality are two different things

the governments attempt to spend their way out of this mess and place the burden on the backs of future generations is absolutely horrible

who is really helped in this plan? big business and big government! divide the stimulus package (800 bil) by the number of jobs ( 1,2, 3,4 mil) etc. to get your cost per job and then tell me how great the package is.

an alternative plan was to eliminate all social security taxes, both employee and employer, that would give a 7% raise to every working american and a break to every business owner, was not even talked about.

sorry to say that this plan is the deathnell for the u.s. economy

fasten your seatbelts cause big brother is here! the worst is yet to come!

I will give Obama and the democrats all the credit if it works! The republicans can share none of the success that comes with this bill, they didnt even compromise, they boycotted. If they stood up before the vote and said the economy will come back without this package then I might agree with them, but they're not they are waiting in the wings and hoping for failure. Because of the way the two parties have aligned them self with this bill only one thing is guarenteed....partisan politics for the rest of this century and that my friends is not going to work for me.

Two comments per post limit, guys.

Sorry for the recent deletions.

Hey Barry I think memory man is upset about the fact that obama said all legislation will be posted online for 72 hours before he signs it and this bill isnt posted at all. I also think he is against taxpayer money going to an organization that is under investigation in around 15 states I guess it could be worse it could be under investigation in all 57 states. since we cant read if acorn is getting any $$ in this bill we will have to wait until it becomes law when Obama signs it I suppose we can fix it then.... NOT! I also think memory man doesnt know what race has to do with this? if acorn does get money in this Bill I hope your man enough to admit you were wrong, I know memory man is.

er..No, Pat Riot (AKA Memory Man), you cannot post more than two (2) comments per post- even using a pseudonym.
