Newly discovered out-take from the Beatles White Album: Revolution 1 (Take 20)

The White Album cover and art insert was designed by a pop artist named Richard Hamilton, who lived near George Harrison. His nephew is a friend of mine, so when I went to visit, he took me to meet his Uncle Richard, along with some pompous and kinda goofy "art fans". We took this long and winding road through a wooded area and ended up on this...farm/home/art studio and spent the afternoon with him and his wife. The art groupies sort of spent the next hour or two just buttering this guy up with these stupid forms of flattery, but you could tell that he was bored with it all- must have gotten that sort of attention for many years, because of his well known name in the Pop Art world, because of the White Album, because of his friendship with Mick Jagger and the Stones, it was a whole 60's-London Scene thing, but this was many years later. Anyway, the groupies left and then it was just me and him and his wife and my friends and I pulled up the chair and said, "So what did you think of Paul and Linda?" and all of a sudden he perked up and livened up out of his eternal boredom and we had a grand old time gossiping about the Paul and Linda and Neil Aspinall and all those characters we all know so much about. See, everyone loves good gossip.

Wow, and I thought I had everything! Someone send it to Cha-Chi!

That's awesome Charles. Never heard this before. Thanks for sharing. Note that "Revolution 1", the version that wound up on the White Album, was rejected by the band. That's why they did the uptempo version on the "B" side of Hey Jude. Can you imagine? "No, not good enough!" Also, the ending of your take 20 can be heard as part of "Revolution 9."
It is hard to believe, in retrospect, that we only had 12 years of John & Paul together. July '57: John meets Paul. Oct '69: Abbey Road released. That's it. 12 years. - TS

... and it's pretty hard to believe that, with all the studio sophistication in music today, you turn on the radio and when a lesser played Beatle song comes on the radio, like "Don't Bother Me" or "That Girl", it still can give you goosebumps and your kids say, "Ma, who's that???"

I wonder what the other 18 takes sound like?
