My picks: The best humor, web-sites and videos culled from cyberspace • An occasional song or two • Your comments and opinions • Entertaining controversy from a parallax perspective
Let's start with the term "wingnut". Regardless of your politics it is a term like "treehugger' that says more about the person using the stupid word than the person it is meant to ridicule. Secondly, is it my imagination or was this posted earlier as "wingnut: but has since been changed to "GOP wingnut"?
Treehugger had always been a good word. One of the tactics Wingnuts commonly use is to take words which are positive words and turn them into negatives in order to suit their own agenda. (What can be wrong about someone who loves nature?)
The reason the word “GOP” was added was for clarification, because several people who saw the post thought I was talking about the metal screw-on nuts that are found in hardware stores. So- using my own experience from radio- I played to the L.C.D. and clarified it.
FYI: a strong and committed conservative is NOT a Wingnut.
A hate-mongering, extremist, over-zealous, inflexible, Neocon conservative usually exhibits these characteristics- which are now commonly known to be associated with the label “Wingnut” in contemporary terminology.
Glad you clarified that Chuck. Do you know how many times a neocon D.Bag has called me a wingnut? That was during the long Bush nightmare. Now I will probably be a wingnut because I don't like the new(old)policies.
On a separate note, did anyone see the Stevie Wonder tribute by Obama on PBS? If Obama helps destroy the world like the past puppets(see Zeitgeist), at least he did a very cool thing by honoring Stevie. I still can't think of one good thing that boy george ever did. Not one!
One last thing: Google Esperanza Spalding. She was on the tribute to Stevie Wonder. She plays bass and sings. No. I am not getting paid to plug her music, just inspired by great art.
I am talking about words not politics or beleives so I won't address what could be wrong with "someone who love nature". I just can't beleive any idiot ever described himself as a treehugger. "I love nature. I'm a treehugger"????
If I were debating the politics I would ask for an example of turning a good word into a bad meaning. We had this discussion and liberal does not cut it. Liberal is a real word with a real meaning. I am liberal in my everyday life I just don't subscribe to a liberal interpretation of the US Constituition.
I googled Esperanza Spalding (thanks, Bill) and saw a link to where she is playing upcoming shows... and there is one right nearby!! I will have to check her out. http://www.myspace.com/esperanzaspalding

No wonder you can't believe. You Spelled it wrong.
You'll be singing "Don't stop Believing" in no time with your new found functioning believe. Just don't don't sing that around me.
