President-Elect Mistake #1 (and counting...)
Please don't do this to us, Barrack!
Holder, you may recall, was the acting attorney general who approved Bill Clinton's last-minute list of presidential pardons just before leaving office.
That list included one very controversial and embarrassing one for fugitive investor Marc Rich, whose ex-wife coincidentally just happened to have made substantial contributions to Clinton.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but, Where is the change?? Yet another washington insider for Barack. Is this also the same guy that pardoned University of Chicago Professor and weather underground founder Bill Ayers??

Come to me my son, Obama. Let me take you to the Dark Side, the land of the Clintons. Somehow, we knew this would be your destiny.....

Give it a break. Did you really believe that Mother Teresa was going to the White House! This is practical politics 101. We should only be so lucky as to get a Democrat like Slick Willy who can get the economy back in line, the Supreme Court reloaded with personal rights protectors, and get the neo-cons and us out of Iraq. Did you believe that all the politicians were going to go home and that only political virgins in white would be in charge! LOL.

I agree with H. Cohen. An idealist will get chewed up and spit out by congress from both sides if he doesn't have muscle behind him. I think Obama is smart enough and wily enough to know what he knows and doesn't know. He sets the rules and now has seasoned insiders set to deal with a group of people who are not going to give up their power.

And as far as corruption goes, how about the CEO's of Wall Street, taking the money from us, still getting their half billion dollars and spa-ing it up to alleviate their stress? Where does Marc Rich come close? (not to say he shouldn't be pardoned, even though he didn't care whether he was or not)

Is there justice in our system of politics? Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Do our politicians reward their backers? -- Hell yes they do.
If a new president wants to have his administration hit the ground running he hires people who know how to run when they hit the ground. Expect more of the same - maybe later in his presidency he will tweak a few appointments here or there, but H. Cohen and h above got it right. If you want to wield power you have to have powerful people working for you.

Although I supported him once he won the nomination, I was was afraid Obama might do what Deval initially did--put inexperienced idealists in jobs they weren't qualified for. At the state level, not a disaster, but at the federal level, it would be. We will find out if he's picking the right people, but they are certainly well qualified and experienced and that's a huge change from the past eight years.
