The Democrats won. The first order of business is revenge on one of the most reasonable senators ever. The last thing the Democratic leadership wants is an independent thinking person who dares to not follow orders. If this is the beginning of bipartisanship it's off to a bad start.
"Let's start reaching across the aisle after we dump this guy."? Who's next? he's right ON the aisle.
No need to purge or kick around Joe. Joe will be kissing a.. as soon as he can. Joe will be a useful voice...as soon as those Fresh, Young, Honest, Spiritually-Uplifting New Liberal Democrats purge, castrate, crucify all those Neo-Nazi, Super Fascist, Morally-Debased Neo-Conservative Republicans.
Nothing like honest disagreement and debate with mutual respect...
All that D.C. is,is about getting even with the other guy for some omagined slite.It's been that way for years and it probably not change for many a year to come.

Also, to Stevie Ray: Lieberman did lots of great things. So did John McCain- and even George W, once or twice.
