I still believe we would have won (Rays' starter blew up as badly as Beckett, so the starting pitchers were essentially a wash) if it hadn't been for the hideous calls at the plate, especially in the later innings. The magical, now-you-see-it-now-you-don't strike zone, and the final line of 3 walks issued to the Rays as opposed to 10 for the Sox, says it all. We were had. This is not to say that Beckett doesn't have issues, given the last two outings, that are very scary for the Sox down the stretch. But we still should have won that last one.

Yeah Timlin is past his prime and should be in middle relief not trying to win or save games. The real problem is Francoma's refuse to recognize when his ace just has nothing in the tank (a la Pedro in 2003 ALCS).
