Pending Palin Policy Positioning
Important Notice: This post will no longer be updated. It has served its purpose. Palin is history.
For the foreseeable future, I am going to use this post as a sort of bulletin board for all stories, revelations and articles regarding Sarah Palin. This woman is too hot (and I'm not talking about her physical attributes here.) to ignore: Every newspaper in the country, every TV and radio show, magazine, etc. will be featuring stories on Palin from now until November 5. As i said from day one, she is going to be a formidable force to be reckoned with, and she will stay that way until she is totally vetted- and she will be vetted- more by the media, certainly, than she was by the McCain camp.
I'm hoping that, unless the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot (as they are so prone to do), Sarah Palin will slowly disintegrate as more and more info comes in, taking McCain and the future hopes of a rejuvenated Republican party revival down with her.
I will keep this post in the top five on this blog each day, and insert the latest Palin info here, updating as often as the stories come in: But first let's level the playing field and separate the rumors from the facts. Please read this first. and then this. Those are the rumors. The following are the facts:
Palin accepts the blessing of Pastor Thomas Muthee, who asks Jesus to fund her political campaigns, and protect her from witchcraft. Really! and the Jews are responsible for our current financial crisis.
1.Conservative commentators say: “Palin should step down”
2.The slow and tortuous unraveling of Sarah Palin on Katie Couric: Part 1 • Part 2
3.Take a quick 5-second PBS poll- no matter what your politics!
Comments
Chuck! Nobama should have read your blog, about picking Hillary. Had this happened, Palin would still be field dressing moose. In the words of the recently departed Jerry Reed, "When you're hot your hot, when you're not your not...."

Charles, thanks for doing this..I too believe we just give enough time and she's bound to foot in mouth...that's why the Repubs are not allowing any interviews with her at all !!!!

Since the "sambo" link above didn't work, click my name to see the article in L.A. Progressive that attributes that quote to the woman now heralded as "the future of the Republican Party."

People talk, but policy walks the walk. Palin talked about being having a friend in the White House who is sympathetic to parents of special needs kids?
Look at her proven record:

Wow, this does prove the hard left is in a full state of panic. Charles will now resort to the lowest of all lows and attack a woman that has clearly energized America and holds an 85%+ approval rating. Does ANYONE in the opposing party come close to this type of rating? What is Pelosi’s and Hillary’s rating by the people?? It is very negative. And all we hear is that Bush is hated and unpopular but we hear nothing about this “do nothing Congress” with their 9% approval rating.
Now comes along Sarah Palin, who has an actual record (unlike your Messiah) of standing up to both parties. She has proven and done the following: Fought corruption, balanced a billion ++ dollar budgets, met budget/payroll, is the commander of the national guard, has executive experience, has CUT taxes, eliminated wasteful spending, (none of which Obama believes in or has done). She is a loving and caring mother, wife and a daughter. Everyone by now knows the resume.
Your side has the audacity to claim experience with the 100+ day Senator? Sarah Palin has more experience than Obama and Geraldine Ferraro did when she ran. And I'm sure you voted for that losing ticket.
You now resort to attacking the family and her minor children. You feel proud Charles? What office is her daughter running for? Like most Americans she has a daughter that has presented a challenge to her family. You seem to take pleasure in this.
Did the Republicans attack Al Gores kid in 2004? He was caught reckless driving while on pot, was that a campaign issue?
Did we ever look at Chelsea Clinton and her sex life? Your side will try the old “throw it against the wall” and even if it’s not true, hope that people will doubt her eventually. Obama has a 6 and a 9-year-old daughter and I could not imagine ever using them to advance a candidate on my side. Unlike Sarah, Obama has plenty of questions and faults in his views to keep us plenty busy.
Continue to try to keep the spotlight off the top of your ticket. This strategy is right out of Saul Alinsky's handbook. Sarah has had more questions asked about her family in the last week than Obama has had about Bill Ayers in 2 years. How is this possible? This only helps her cause and will be the fall of your side. And America will soon hear more about Obamas radical associates like Franz Fanon, Bill Ayers (whom Obama served on the Woods foundation), Rev Wright, Bernardine Dohrn, The Weather underground, Tony Rezko, how he praises Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan.
I would ask you to realize, that your actions do nothing to advance your cause or explain to undecided voters how YOUR (top of the ticket) candidate is qualified, tested, experienced, truthful, and honest enough to qualify for this job. Remember its McCain who is the one with the record that America will decide this race on. Your VP candidate that brags about how he was a star athlete in high school had five deferments to avoid military service because of his asthma?? That's not important.... only if his kids had an unplanned pregnancy, that's how we decide on a VP. McCain smokes your side on honor, bravery, duty integrity and serving his country. He has earned the title of Commander in Chief not your guy.
You can’t dispute these FACTS, because they are TRUE. And Sarah Palin is just the icing on the cake.

To Robbie Wingbat Robot:
Who is panicking here? The media is on the hunt, and whatever they come up with will be posted. Nothing has changed since the Kerry/Gore days- except for the names and who is feeling the pain this time around. It's your Karma- cry all you want to; but remember:
“The Moving Finger writes,
And, having writ, moves on.
Nor all your Piery nor Wit
Can lure it back to cancel half a line;
Nor all your Tears wash out a word of it.”

Sarah Palin is for teaching about condoms in school, but McCain is against it, supporting only teaching abstinence?
Wait a minute.
Who is THIS guy to be telling other people to practice abstinence? Do we all not know his history?
It's the hypocrisy, Stupid.

The Anne Kilkenny letter written on 31Aug08 was thoroughly investigated by Snopes.com and they were able to verify her claims. Hey, maybe Kilkenny was jealous of Palin when they went to school together so she'll try to sway the country against her 30+ years later....yeah right.
If you believe that, I have a home to sell you in Houma LA...it's only got a tiny bit of easily fixable water damage.
Posted by: Bongo | September 7, 2008 1:46 PM
Hey Mr. Almond Joy?? Why don’t you leave the personal attacks out of it and debate the issues? Children in playgrounds act this way. Your credibility is lost with the first sentence of your post. You are not even worth the reply. You show no respect for people you don’t even know. Why, just because they don’t agree or think like you? It must be great to know you. It’s not healthy to live in a vacuum.
What ever the media comes up with will be posted? You are kidding right? This is same media that posted the wrong story about McCain and his “relationship” with a lady lobbyist. This was the same media that hid the John Edwards story for two years because they claimed there was no proof? This is the same media that will ignore all of your Messiahs past and his circle of friends. Are you proud of Bill Ayers? Lets have a debate Obamas relationship with him. I bet he’s a hero in your mind. How about a media story or a posting on the Big Mattress on Mr. Ayers? I missed that one.
Your side has 95% of the media, all the money they need, all of “Hollywood’s backing, a so called current unpopular president in the Republican party, theme of “ change in the air “, with the country also wanting to not elect Republicans. And you’re still behind in the polls? You should have a 50-point lead with that head start.
As far as feeling pain. I do feel for this woman who because of her party affiliation, she will be unfairly scrutinized. She a big gal and will have no problems with the lowest of the lows. Remember, only liberal pro-abortion women count in your party, others need not apply. And again you cannot name a time when the Republicans used a minor child to advance a story. But you did manage to call me a wingbat robot. That’s mature and it also shows a clear reflection of your ability to reason.
oh, by the way cute poem.
And can you guess which finger Im moving at you?

to Mark and Robbie:
I agree that Almond Joy's name calling is a little over the top and uncalled for, but his argument is very logically put.
Really- all he is saying is that Sarah Palin will be vetted by the "liberal press" (as you like to call any media outlet that would dare to criticize anyone on the Right) in the same way that all other candidates and elected officials are vetted- whether it's by the National Review, Fox TV or the L.A. Times; and your problem here? You are really saying, aren't you, that you idolize and suck up to the Messiah Sarah Palin in the exact same way that you accuse Obama fans of sucking up to Messiah Obama? You do not want to hear about anything that may come up about Palin- and yet your side is famous for Swiftboating, vetting and Willy Hortoning anything that suits your needs. (How convenient that you forgot the Rush Limbaugh reference to Chelsea Clinton as ”the White House dog..“ by the way...)
I will not stoop so low as Almond Joy to call you “Wingnuts”- but I certainly have no problem calling you both hypocrates. And yes, "The Moving Finger of the Liberal Press does write.." ( and rightly so- hopefully right up until November 2nd).
As a fellow named Duane Glasscock once said, "How does it feel to want?"

Well if it wasn't for the name calling, acidic comments and finger waving, I would have to say that this is as close to an exchange of ideas as I have yet to see on this blog. But God (oops sorry - scratch that) But Larry the Cable Guy forbid that anyone of us dare to admit that the other side may have a valid point.
Charles - thanks for putting a lid on the name calling. Just like you did for me last week when that Glasscock fellow referd to me as a "loser drama queen".
So someone please explain to me why it is soo wrong to teach creationism along side of eveloution as a "theory"? No self respecting scientist would rule out a "theory" without conclusive evidence. When they write about John Kennedy's assanation they always mention the rumors about multiple shooters.
Why can't we allow our children to hear all of the possibilities and let them make up their own little minds.
Now.....Almond joy reveal yourself - oops wait - that didn't sound right.

Since this post will be up for a while, can we waive the two comments rule in this section?
Biden made the point that Obama should be commended for giving up a well-paying job in order to be a community organizer. But that doesn't resonate with most people -- most people would NEVER do something like that, thus Obama's choice makes them feel uncomfortable or guilty. Who wants to vote for someone who makes you feel bad? BTW, I never use air conditioning and don't keep my house temp maintained at 72 degrees.

Ah Robbie ye poor misguided sod. The laughable defense of Gov. Palin is pretty pathetic. An 85% approval rating? For what she hasn't done anything and no one ever heard of her three weeks ago. Agnew had high approval ratings until he had to resign. The media will do it's job hopefully and reveal everything about this woman. I'm afraid that if Michelle Obama is fair game so is her family especiall if she is running on a family values platform. SHE made it a relevant topic. If you oppose sex education then your pregnant daughter is fair game. Why is it that; a black teenager giving birth is a 'national disgrace' but for a white teenager it is 'a gift from God'?
The hypocrisy is mindblowing.
I'll grant you the Dems. will blow it. The GOP tactics borrow from Lao Tzu and well as Machiavelli.
Take your most vulnerable position and use it to attack your enemy's strongest e.g. despite W.'s weak military record aggressively attack Kerry's war conduct.
You can contradict yourself (Obama's inexperience next to Palin's nomination) if you simultaneously claim your opponents message for your own, e.g. change/reform, or twist it e.g., Obama's appeal makes him a celebrity but Palin's charisma makes her a substantial candidate.
I'm afraid the victory won't hinge on merit as Palin's record as Gov. is abysmal, but then again it is that underdog people like so long as it is not an uppity Negro.

Rich, Good question. My quick answer is that evolutionary theory is a scientific theory that is the result of hundreds of years of scientific thought, experimentation and rigorous review by the scientific community and is universally accepted in that community as valid. Creationism is a hypothesis supported by absolutely no scientific evidence, and has no more validity than any of hundreds of other primitive mythological creation theories which we would never advocate being taught in a science curriculum.
This country is already rapidly falling behind other developed nations in terms of student testing and understanding of math and science. If we allow religious mythology to pose as science in our schools, we will fast-forward our economic, cultural and moral decay.
I am constantly amazed at the anti-scientific beliefs and scientific illiteracy of the majority of our population and especially our current president. And yet, despite this, we all practice an acceptance of science...we fly in planes, drive in cars, purchase and use and believe in technology that would not and could not exist without the scientific theories they are based on.

Robbie,
I'm not sure why you are so angry, yet you seem to be OK with characterizing others who may not agree with you as angry. Although I have no idea who you are, I am very sure that I don't like you at all, and could never like you. You are very bitter in your attacks on the host of this forum and with anyone who expresses an opinion that you don't care for. You don't leave comments, you lecture, harangue and bait anyone and everyone. It's insulting to read anything you have ever written here. Do you have any moderate views on anything? Your extremely long rants give ample evidence that you can form an argument, but are not very articulate in your presentation, especially in your spelling and grammar. If you could actually be in the same room with someone who is not in agreement with you, I truly believe that you would resort to violence. You are obviously out of control and badly in need of help with your anger issues.
Were I the moderator of a blog, you would not be allowed to comment on any subject, even the weather. You dare to challenge people who comment on the Big Mattress to a 'debate'? I don't think you are enough of an authority on any subject, or have enough humility to participate in any sort of give-and-take with any person of opposing views. Let me repeat myself - you don't know the difference between a comment, a lecture or a harangue, let alone know how to have a conversation as civilized as an actual debate.
Like Sarah Palin, you offer the same tired speech every time.

Root beer? Nice name. Do you live in your mother’s basement while you watch Star Wars? Well thank you for your valuable input. I think now I will be able to see the Lib light that has guided you so hopelessly threw life.
I am not losing any sleep knowing that you don’t care to know me. But you obviously have no original thought. You resort to insults because you can’t defend the candidate you support. The bloom is off the rose. Your candidate is exposed and America will reject him. It’s not me your mad at. You are mad at yourself. You have a hard time excepting that a majority of this country does not think like you. You tell yourself and your friends that America is stupid. You tell yourself that you’re the smarter one and only you know better. You sound like a typical elites as you talk down to me. You sound just like Joe Biden did when he bragged about his education and IQ as he put down the reporter who dare challenge him (even though it was all a lie).
All you libs subscribe to the same formula that motivates traditional Judeo-Christians to defeat you in national elections. I am not an angry guy and I will not apologize for my passion for the future of this country. I am sorry I come across strong and did not mean to offend you in any way. I never resort to violence. You have no right to even hint this to everyone reading this that I’m someone to fear. I’m sure if my name was Bill Ayers and I bombed a few buildings and killed some cops or preached like Rev Wright then you could look the other way or maybe vote for me to be President like you will Obama.
I’m glad you do not run your own blog. In fact, I don’t know who would care to hear more of what you have to say. Your attempt to silence me echoes strategy of Saul Linsky. I’m sorry I type fast and misspell time to time. But then again you can’t debate what I’m saying so you debate how I type/phrase it. You need to do whatever works for you.
I’m sorry you’re disturbed by my comments and opinions this is America. Maybe a forum like Daily Kos, Code Pink, Huffington Post or Media Matters will help you with you deal with your emotions. Like Obama, you have no substance and you speak in platitudes.

Don't cop a plea for typing fast. We all can spot a functional illiterate when we read one.
Get three estimates for a good anger management shrink. Eminem shouldn't be one of them.

The only part that really bothered me was that she didn’t just ask Charlie Gibson what the Bush Doctrine is. I didn’t know what it is, and it would have been refreshing to hear her ask for more specifics instead of babbling nonsense. In addition, I’m pretty confident that either Obama or Biden would have known the particulars of the Bush doctrine and would have been able to put Gibson in his place.

Posted by: BruceK | September 14, 2008 6:48 AM
Root Beer,
My final comments to you and yes, I will be using more words than you did (by the way, good for you):
You are a hypocrite, conceited, arrogant, introverted, and manipulative and an insecure individual. Why don’t you speak for yourself, its clear what your trying to do with your comments: “I don't care for your shade, and I will bet your popularity around here is pretty low” and “Were I the moderator of a blog, you would not be allowed to comment on any subject” and “ I have no idea who you are, I am very sure that I don't like you at all, and could never like you”. Root Beer, comments/statements like yours, clearly shows your vulnerability and insecurity of who you are and what you stand for. In fact all your comments you have purposely made it personal. Ask yourself, “Who has the anger problem?”
You’re a very bitter man and you need others to support your attack just reflect your words above and case in point here’s another statement of yours “If you could actually be in the same room with someone who is not in agreement with you, I truly believe that you would resort to violence here”. You don’t think THIS isn’t an angry, provoking statement?? All your comments confirms my point, you want others to join your feelings cause you can’t stand on your own. Your comments are very personal, with no substance and of course nothing to do with the main issues at hand. (You just want to provoke and derail from the issues)
Divert all you want, oh and please dissect my grammar and spelling, tear it apart if this makes you feel better and smarter. But you can’t take away the message, it still stands the same and people can read and judge for themselves (I have faith in people) as to what the message and the meaning is, which I’m sure is eating away at you.
Pssst…by the way, I purposely didn’t check my grammar or spelling, more for you to fix. How did I do?? (No need to reply)
Your personal attacks and comments mean nothing to me, I have a feeling you’re a very lonely person inside…hey, did you know, you also had a grammar error in your past “blog comments”…go on reread your blog and try to find it. If you were serious about what you believe in, you would debate the issues and not personalize it, as YOU did, with your little insults. And I think this word “harangue,” reflects back to you, you come across quite loud and bombastic, with your self-righteousness and insults.
I will not engage you personally after this; you brought it to this personal level and attack.
Self reflect before you deflect and to the people that worry about others checking your spelling and grammar such as Root Beer here exemplified, don’t let their insecurity prevent from your involvement. Believe it or not Root Beer, NO ONE is Perfect, including YOU but I think the difference is “good people can admit to their errors and don’t claim they are short from falling”. may you find personal peace.

Remember when McCain bemoaned and sarcastically commented on "Obama the Celebrity". He's not bemoaning celebrity now that his girl is a Ronette.
Posted by: h | September 14, 2008 6:02 PM
I find it amusing that the average person spends more time researching and shopping for a new or used vehicle than McCain spent selecting Palin as his VP choice. It will be interesting to see if she declared as "income" the per diem money she received from the state for spending nights at home. I predict that we may not see her tax returns before the election because of this. DJH

Wait Jerry Reed is dead? Damn he was the best part of the "Smokey and the Bandit" series!
I am noticing that McCain / Palin are definitely starting to fall in line with the party establishment. Doesn't he realize he got where was because he shunned the party. Now he is hook line and sinker. Same crap different year. I was on the fence for a while and I still don't know if Obama has a clue but I can't take four more years or I'll be back to eating mac'n'cheese and Ramen over the sink like I did in college only this time with 3 other mouths to feed and one on the way.

This is the worst election ever.
McCain and Obama and their associates are squabbling and pointing (choose your favorite)fingers at each- both either denying or exaggerating-
basting us in rhetoric and hyperbole. I'm just amazed that so many people are chewing on portions of soundbites and minute rice journalism for their candidate comfort food.
I think Americans should look at how the world currently views America and make their decision based on that. Some of us feel America should be aggressive and arrogant and some of us think America could rebuild it's image and remove this us vs. them thinking. For me, I'm just happy to see the current administration go away and hopefully they won't leave Cheney at the joystick. If you think about that-you know who you'll vote for.
Posted by: squeak | September 19, 2008 1:28 PM
So Bill Clinton thinks Palin is hot. And Joe Biden says Obama's ad about McCains lack of computer knowledge is wromg and he never would have approved of it. And in another ad Obama blames McCain for the fact that women are paid 77 cents on the dollar - turns out Obama pays his female staffers 83 cents on the dollar while McCain pays his female staffers 1.04 on the dollar.
Doesn't it just suck when the truth comes to light.

Sarah Palin has tits. I have tits. Should I trust her implicitly just because she is a female? NO!
All females know that we as Females must HATE EACH OTHER and all other Females! It's Darwin Evolution-We want all the Men for Ourselves.
Hillary has no apparent tits- So we accepted her? Sarah wins the visual man's choice vote by 78%!. So by Nature we must Hate her! She Can't win with Women! The Republicans will loose ...
