Massholes

It's official. The most spoiled, brat-ish, fat-baby, knee-jerk, jerk-faced, obnoxious fans in all of sports are no longer New York Yankees followers. They've been usurped. And that's saying something.

They've been eclipsed by another group that is a clear No. 1 after booing one of the great dynasties in the history of organized sports. Congratulations, New England Patriots fans, your testicles have dropped. You are the top dog when it comes to whiney fans who take winning for granted.

Stay in your seats, folks, even when your three-time Super Bowl champs are struggling. You elevated the spoiled-brat fan phenomenon in sports to an entirely different level when on Sunday you heavily booed a team that's only one of two to win three Super Bowls in a four-year span, went undefeated in the regular season and generated the two longest winning streaks in NFL history.

Sure, go ahead and boo. The Patriots have obviously and clearly sucked.

Patriots defensive back Ellis Hobbs put it perfectly. He explained that the cascade of booing by New England fans is "a testament to how spoiled they are." I'd take that a step farther.

The booing symbolizes how many fans who think they know football actually don't. They really don't understand the intricacies of the sport and how hard it is to do what the Patriots have accomplished.

"It doesn't hurt," Hobbs said of the booing, according to newspapers in Boston and Providence. "It amazes me, amazes me, how people react. You would think that this organization hasn't won as much as they've won and hasn't been successful in the years that they have.

"Expectations are that high that we're not allowed a bad game or something like that. How many times has somebody had a bad day at the office? How many times has somebody missed a deadline and not gotten in the paper? Missing whatever, forgetting to fix their kids' lunch?"

Now you've gone too far. My mom always packed a great lunch.

Tight end Ben Watson called the mass numbers of Patriots fans leaving that 38-13 Miami debacle early "pretty disgusting."

Nice work, Pats fans. Hard core all the way. Uh-Rah.

How about this? We'll transfer the Patriots to Detroit and the Lions to Massachusetts. Patriots fans can have Matt Millen and the Motor City will take Bill Belichick.

(See how much you'd boo then.)

Charles, the "spoiled" fans in New England (and I hate myself for saying this but New York too) hold our teams to higher standards. No they don't have to win every game but they at least have to TRY!!!! That 3rd and 4th quarter they had already quit and were just mailing it in! These are the same spoiled fans who cheered for your suck ass team for 40 years when you sucked donkey dick. So try finishing your block Watson and shut the fuck up.

“So try finishing your block Watson and shut the fuck up..”

................and i thought I was the village idiot!!

Some one plese tell Bob what he's tryng to say.

Yeah, the standard the fans are adhering to is called excellence. That is not to say they expect to win everygame. Far from it, especially with Brady out, but to be dominated by a mediocre Miami team wouldn't fly in Dallas, N.Y., S.D., Phila. etc. either.

Holding your home team to higher standards is good and all.But leaving your team when they don't do as well as YOU want is just being childish.Give me a break I've watched and heard fans booing the Pat's;Sox's;Celt's;and the Bruins and I still tihnk they're the best fans in the world. The fans who left are just bandwagoner's and they deserve to be called such or worse Yankmee fans.

A true fan enjoys the give and take of the game. I would love to, one day, witness a no-hitter. I chart every baseball game I attend, and just once I would love to do the scorecard of a no-hitter.

Would it matter if it was my team that pitched it? Not really -- it's the game.

Last Sunday the Miami football club gave an old fashioned whooping to our Patriots.

Was it pretty -- well yes -- for the game that evolved.

Miami sent one player into the end zone five times. They scrambled the backfield, and completely confused the great defense team of New England -- a domination.

The outcome was not what we Pats fans hoped for, but it was an excellent played football game for the winning team.

Stay in your seats, cheer the better aspects of the game, enjoy your day outside.

Season ticket owners give their seats to bandwagon, casual, unappreciative fans -- what you saw is what you got.

If you've ever spent a lifetime in your car attempting to exit the parking lots at Gillette Stadium, you'll understand why Pats fans chose to leave early. The game was painful to watch, and sitting in that "everybody-leave-at-once" traffic would have added to the agony. My last Gillette exit was after Springsteen's show - he rocked for a non-stop 3 hours, and then we spent 2 more hours stuck in the parking lot. Got home (normally 10 minutes away) at 2:30 AM! So leaving the game early was as much a verdict on the traffic as on the game.
