Obama's VP pick

Everyone says Biden. I still say Hillary. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
BUT WAIT-• Updates-70Let's play a game for a few minutes... (Now work with me here.)
Let's pretend that Barack Obama announces that his Vice President is going to be....
Not Hillary. Not Biden. Not Bayh. Not Edwar- (Just kidding!) Not Richardson. Not Gore.

but...
General Colin Powell

(Powell steps up to the podium on the first night of the convention, apologizes to the people of America for his naively buying into the Bush/Cheney/Rove/Rumsfeld Cartel arguments (for why we should have gone to war with Iraq); and announces that he is a wiser and more capable man now to help lead us through the difficult times ahead; would like our forgiveness and support as he and Obama strive to take America to a newer and higher level than at anytime in our history.)

Think about that scenario for a long, long few minutes...

(Comments please- I'm dying to read your takes)

Biden said tonight, "I'm not the guy".

I say, "Chose Hillary and make sure you hire a Royal Taster." : )

I hope you are right.

I can see the bumper sticker now:

OBILLARY

Put away that blint, Mr. L., you are hallucinating too richly.

I'm not voting for prez until I get admitted to the Lectural College -- them be the ones who pick the leeder.

Michael Moore has a letter on his website
with a plea for Caroline Kennedy.
I'm sure Danny will have something to say about that !

....and "Frankie goes to Hollywood" is the next big hit....

Besides that, I love the man and hope you are right.

Watch out for the "dark horse" for VP, Kathleen Sebelius, the governor of Kansas. She will help B.O. with both the women voters, and the heartland voters, two missing ingredients for him right now.

1.5 African-Americans running the country? Times are not a-changin' that much.

Charles, I think you're shooting in the dark with this one. It WOULD be pretty funny to see Powell give a speech at the DNC to counter Joe L's speech at the RNC, kind of like a crossing spores in a show of crossing party lines, but I think people will NEVER forgive Powell for what he did at the United Nations, he's too old now, his wife is fragile mentally/emotionally (remember all that?), he's not going to leave the Republican Party, he's no longer that well liked.
My sense of it is that Obama is going to be very cautious and NOT pick someone who has any track record with any problems, because he is very smart and well aware at how the Republicans play the election game, going back to Lee Atwater. They play dirty, they play savagely-scorched earth, take no prisoners and he will not give them a crack to let their venom seep into. I really don't have a sense of who he'll pick, but my guess would be it's someone we don't know well, but will be brilliant and not have a paper trail of questionables.

I'M IN!

On an unrealted topic, did you read how air-conditioning is responsible for the rise of the Republicans?

Powell's long resume and veteran cred would certainly help to balance the perceptions that Obama is both too young and liberal. Unfortunately I don't think there is any benefit in being VP for Colin Powell. Besides, warriors tend to be loyal people, so his jumping parties would be extremely out of character.

Despite being forced out, I'm afraid time has eroded most of Powell's popularity and cache. He seems more of a beaten man and not the forceful commander he once was.
As for Hillary...giving her the VP spot would insure a McCain win more than anyother single event.
With support for Obama at 24% among white male voters (half of McCain's total), I'm afraid that would drop even more with her in the back up slot.
If you think getting the first black elected President is tough, try making it the daily double and tie it to electing the first female V.P. as well.
Now there are some shitty odds.

Lenin or Stalin would compliment the ticket well and keep the message consistent......

That is correct, Robbie...and the first thing they are going to do after they “take over” is give you a "brainwash transplant," because you are a total, freakin' wingnut.

Why would the World's smartest African American take a back seat to Obama ?
Ain't happening.....Obama wins and Powell comes back in 2012 as the Republican nominee..........." That's the ticket"

Holy Toledo! Two african-American presedents, black to black! Hey- They took over basketball and football- maybe politics is next! Couldn't do any worse than the shitheds we got now

Biden's the guy and, for someone without a lot of World Politics experience, he's a great choice.
