Anger Mis-management
Inside Edition and Inside Colbert
(Lifted shamelessly from Choolie's Blog ..and she's even got the dance remix version).
..and the hits just keep on coming! (Thanks to Bill M. for this medley)
“...Dude, are you shitting me? Are. You. Shitting me?...”

I was just watching a montage of these mainstream media darlings losing their shit. Yes, O'Lielly was on at the end. I wonder if anyone has footage of Billo yelling "Don't block the shot." That cracks me up.
It must be hard for them when they shovel bilge to stupid Americans who eat it.

Alright, I found that "Don't block the shot" piece.
These are my two for the post. I promise.

What drill means in the above soliloquy, is that- I, Charles Laquidara- back in the day... was not always an easy person to work with and to work for: I had a short fuse, was a total OCD asshole and did not tolerate mistakes from colleagues and coworkers. I could blame the rage and anality on the pressure of doing morning radio and the competitive dynamic that was prevalent at the time- but there really was no reason for that kind of behavior. It probably wasn't so much “ego” as it was a fear of failing and the obsessive and eccentric pursuit of demanding perfection in others so that they could make me look good 0n the radio. Anyone who ever worked with me knew this, and to this day, some of the greatest talents that have ever worked in radio (Billy West, Eddie Gorodetsky, for example) no longer even talk to me. One of those things in life you wish you could do over and do better, that will never be. (There was even a dude harassing me a few months ago who turned out to be a former co-worker that I must have fucked over and hurt badly enough for him to still feel the resentment decades later.) Sorry- really.

Drill: nice going. You made him go all Norma Desmond again.

I wasn't going to take this road, but since Charles is laying it out there....
Hey Blog people! Raise your hand if you've seen Sandy Leonardi cry! More than once! In the same day! Raise your other hand if you were there when Charles screamed at Tim Foxx about his coffee mug during the Ken Shelton show with the mic open. Or heard him say to Don Bertolino, "Don, you have a cunt, don't you?" Or got into a girly fist fight with Parenteau.
The hissy over the teleprompter is amateur shit compared to what we experienced. :)

Oh and then there was the time when Charles and (WBCN GM) Al Perry were having a yelling match about something in the studio, while the monitors were turned all the way down, and some poor volunteer had to come in to tell Charles that the record was skipping ....ipping....ipping...ipping.
Good times.

Although I did not work at BCN, I did see some of your crap first hand (thanks to friends who worked there), and Charles it's good you can admit you were a dink. Isn't that part of some "step" program ;-)
If it makes you feel any better, I have worked for (and with) worse. You are not the only radio dinky boy to make people cry. A WEEK after my dad died, in fact, on my FIRST day back at work my (then) boss, when I was being less "chipper" than he liked, told me I needed to "Just get over it". He did apologize later, but I've heard from friends he hasn't changed at all.
And after all, your staff did get you back (in 88 or 89) with the "Wake Up Call" that went HORRIBLY WRONG... I only heard the replay, but DAMN it was hysterical. Still cracks me up to this day thinking about it.

Most people have at some point abused others at work, but the meltdowns of the poor and unknown usually aren't recorded for posterity.

Let's be honest: if Bill-O weren't such a dick, we'd all relate on some level to his tantrum and it would be a lot less fun to laugh at (e.g. Alec Baldwin's infamous phone message to his daughter.) Fortunately, O'Reilly *is* a sanctimonious douchebag! So gaffaw away.

I learn so much about Charles whenever I visit this blog!
When I was volunteering at WBCN (1994-2000), a few people mentioned to me about Charles' temper. I thought they were kidding because Charles never lost his temper in front of me whenever I saw him doing his show.
Charles, do you really have OCD or are you just kidding? I have always wondered if you have some sort of neurological disorder.
