Hardly debates, I am so disgusted by the tone of this bickering that I may not vote for the first time since I voted for LBJ. I think all the candidates are either misguided, disconnected, clueless or all three. Once again the Dems have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The debates are clearly their worst moment and they have trivialized the concept in a way that is insulting to the voter. And yet, they keep thinking we need another one.

Good one, Charles. Thanks for posting.

zircon john:
Why are you blaming the candidates on this post- when, clearly- the blame lies with the moderators and their mindless, shallow and pandering-to-the-lowest-common -denominator questions?

The candidates feed into it, they bring to the fold doubt, disgust and disenchantment. Meanwhile Old John Mc is sailing along, uncriticized, basking in stability. Once the last standing, tattered Democratic Candidate staggers forward, he/she's gonna look battered and worn and McCain's going to look like John Wayne.

I agree with z.j., it's the candidates' fault for not dismissing the questions as irrelevant and then saying what they want to say. They LET the Charlie and Georges set the agenda for discussion. Stay home on election day z.j., you're not missing much. Remember, Woodrow Wilson promised to keep us out of WW I and LBJ promised to keep us out of 'Nam -- oh, and W. said he hated the idea of nation building....

nooch and h are dreaming- or neither of you even watched the whole debate. The tenacity which both moderators went after the candidates prohibited any “evasive” answers or “dismissing” of the dumb questions. If you have TIVO, check it out, and see how both candidates tried to bring it to a more serious and pertinent level- No way Stefinfetchopolis and Chicken Giblets would let that happen. Ann Coulter couldn't have torpedoed it better. Take the few minutes to see what others have to say in the above links.

That was the suckiest debate ever.
The questions sucked, the responses sucked and all these potential candidates
(yes McCain too) suck.

Do I have to vote for Nader again?

Contemporary Politics: an odd circus in which the side shows command more attention than the center ring.

Following the ABC debate, MSNBC's Keith Olberman broadcast a clip from "The War Room", a behind the scenes documentary which follows key staffers in the 1992 Clinton campaign. As a guest on "This Week"... the same show he now hosts, George Stephanopoulos decried media's obsession with side issues which divert attention from what the American people really care about. You can find the clip on Huffington Post, or the entire movie on You Tube.

Times change... along with who's writing your check. But America's political/media landscape remains littered with weapons of mass distraction.

Zircon John and h,
SPOT ON!!
Charles, Almond Joy and Mono,
They (The moderators) treated Clinton and Obama like Republicans....Wah Wah Wah!!
NADER in 08 or stay home.

Zircon John, h, squeak and nooch: Congratulations!
Danny has just jumped in bed with you all!!
(Don't worry- his guns are all securely safety-locked...)
Maybe tomorrow morning you guys can have Jack Daniels and coffee together, and swap stories of how everybody sucked on that debate while you're throwing kisses to George Stephanopoulos on TV..
Or,
maybe- instead of “throwing the candidates out with the bath water”- you will take the time to read the thousands of articles and editorials (from both political sides) on news walls across America:

I think there is truth in what the different camps have offered. The media is an abomination and ALL other the candidates are going to be a detriment to the country. Gold stars for all of you. Anyone see the NY Times article about TV reporters being trained the the pentagon? Here it is. I even used the tiny URL. Do I get a gold star? By the way, if anyone is juvenile enough to say I am a liberal for using the NY Times can eat poop.Speaking of poop. John McCain looks like his diaper needs changing.

I don't own a "Gun Safety Lock"!

Danny,
Is that that beeeeautiful Smith and Wesson you brought into the bed, or are you just glad to join us? : )

Almond Joy is right, I didn't watch the debate, not even one second of it. But I stand by my point that candidates shouldn't let reporters push them around and set the agenda. If they can't stand up to Charlie and Georgie, how can they stand up to Ahmadmaninejad and Hugo Chavez? King Juan Carlos told Chavez to shut up, why doesn't Barack or Hillary do the same to those overpaid theater majors?

You want to see a real debate with real hard questions to answer? Its simple, put at least one debate on Fox and let Juan Williams or Alan Colmes and Bill O'reilly or Sean Hannity host the debate.

The last 20 or so debates make you want to stick pins in your eyes. The Dems control everything right up to what questions you can ask them. These two want the hardest job in the world?? Its amazing that they wont even talk to Fox news but would have no problem speaking to terrorist like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I guess Fox would make them feel more uncomfortable..

They might be able to avoid the hard questions, but if they win they wont be able to stick there head in the sand, wake up this is serious business!!
