Glad to hear it Charles. I don't always agree with Jacoby, but I think his columns are intelligent and pretty well thought out. He's really just a little right of center, but because he writes for the Boston Globe, he's looked upon as a right wing radical. Unlike most conservative columnists, he's really ripped Bush apart in the past. Now that Cathy Young is gone, the only other Globe columnist I read loyally is Brian McGrory, who I think has a lot of common sense and is very non-partisan.

Well, I guess that since we are dependent upon millions of desperate people who will work under harsh conditions for poverty level wages, we should probably let them stay. I think this kind was the argument for keeping slavery legal in the south. I don't think this is Republican thinking, it is lazy thinking without considering long-term consequences on the US labor force. Slowly but surely we are turning into a nation of haves and have-nots. Goodbye middle class!

We’ve created a Slave Labor Class, that’s all but done away with the Middle Class and decent wages. Not to mention all the FREE health care and education attendant to this folly. Health Care too Expensive, School's overcrowded, uh duh! Jacoby missed this one by a mile, it’s not surprising you agree with him:-)

we need to find a balance.. immigration is something this country was built on, and is the backbone of most of our heritage, but it must be done legally... and I agree if we turn a blind-eye to places like the one that got raided the other day in New Bedford, how far away are the sweat-shops of old??

Jeff Jacoby is "just a little right of center" like I am the Queen of Romania. Read any column he writes about Israel and say that with a straight face.

I agree with Danny. Huh? Yuck! But, anyway. How is it that no one is really talking about the North American Union? Anyone heard of it? It would explain why the rush of illegal immigration is on. At least our immigrants aren't overwhelmingly Muslim like they are in European countries. Now THEY'VE got some problems, which will probably eventually require a Team America: World Police intervention.
