Makes the very true point that what unites people, what truly brings them together, is an external enemy. Blacks and whites can now "come together" to destroy our Islamist foes.
To unite people give them a really good enemy. That's what the Wizard of Oz says in WICKED. The author of WICKED said he wrote it in the run up to the first Gulf War.

He was asked about whether he was concerned that Wal-Mart (a company he works for) causes smaller, mom-and-pop stores to close ...
"Well, I think they [Wal-Mart] should; they ran the 'mom and pop' stores out of my neighborhood,"
"But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. ... I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores."
