Today I love New York
I just saw World Trade Center. Oliver Stone redeems any past bungles with this film, which is really good in almost every aspect: directing, editing, sound, script, acting and cinematography. Some of the scenes would seem corny, but then it hits you that this shit really went down- and you remember how people we know act in real life situations- and you accept that.
It would seem a slam-dunk that any fairly well-conceived, big-budget movie to come out on this subject would garner a bunch of Academy Award nominations just for making it to the big screen; but this movie is handled exquisitely in so many ways, that it pretty much overcomes that rationale.
This is one of the best films of the year so far, and it's going to be interesting to see how it holds up over time.
My one criticism: Lots of product placement- unnecessary and almost distracting- Office Max, CVS, etc. Do studios really need to make money that way? I mean, I know it's real, but...

Thanks for the review, but, as I told another friend who wanted me to see the 9/11 airplane film with her, that came out months ago, and was also lauded as sensitively and well-done, toooooo soon.
I lived it; I don't have to see it and re-live it.
To me, it falls into the category of Holocaust Films.
Reality seems to be a never-ending horror film these days; please, please, please Hollywood, If you are listening, bring back belly laughing comedies, light romantic comedies, a la Doris Day/Rock Hudson/Meg Ryan/Kevin Kline or Tom Hanks. I just want to feel good with I go to the cinema.

Couldn't agree with you more.
Why see the movie when you've lived it (and just as soon you hadn't)?
I'm certainly not looking to leave a movie theatre in a lousy mood.

I initially felt the same way; but I think it's very important that we don't pretend everything is as it was. It's important to remember, to NEVER forget.

Of course nothing is as it was.
I do not need a movie to remind me of it.

I'll pass. I do, however, like reality based movies. I've seen one or two starring Harrison Ford or Denzel Washington that we're about nailing an Osama Bin Laden type character but unfortunately they weren't based on a true story. I'm holding out for that one.

Wah, wah, wah.

"I'll pass."
The only comment worth a spit is the original post, written by a guy that actually SAW the movie.
Please, watch the movie, THEN offer an opinion. If not, then sit down, have a Coke, and shut the heck up!
