Ya know...I bet old, crazy Sid put more living into his scant 60 years than all of us put together! Except for you wild few...? (You know who you are :) Another hero off to Rock n' Roll Heaven-
...and the Madcap Laughs at the Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
It's too bad that Syd couldn't have basked in the explosive glory starting with the "Dark Side of the Moon" up to "The Wall" days. The style of the band's sound had major changes but his bandmates had a profound dedication to him.Gilmour and Waters always make sure to make a spot in their own shows for an honorable mention of him.He must have left quite a mark on them.Maybe "One of these Days" the rest of the guys will settle their "little" differences and do a memorial concert for him.'Floyd hasn't done any new stuff in eeons[Gilmour,Wright and Mason have mellowed out like 100 year old scotch, while Waters can still rock the house].To see them all together to do this would be wild, not like that short reunion at "Live 8" I've seen these guys a bunch of times and they never fail to blow me away.Just ask Charles;he claims he saw them at a place called "Great Woods"on a foggy thursday night back in the mid 90's.Sorry Chuck,I just had to get you on that one again!!!

Sad to hear about this. I heard about Syd's death on WBOS this morning after Charles' show ended.
Are you going to do a special tribute to Syd this week on Back Spin, Charles?

I think old Syd put more living in the three years he was with the band and then spent the next 38 years dying from them.

Me thinks all the drugs he did preserved him long enoughto reach the age of 60.

It's was written up in the Obits of the L.A. Times that he died of complications of diabetes. Too many sugar cubes, perhaps?

Syd dead? Maybe because of drugs? Holy shit, who would have every thought that.
Long live "Uma Guma"
