Think about how much material the Bush train wreck is going to provide for the blog in the next four years! The quagmire in Iraq is not going away, the balooning deficit isn't either. And then there's Dubyah himself: 24-7 comic relief. Its too juicy to pass up. ;-)
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...

Cisco,
The fun is going to be watching the Democrats re-invent themselves :-) Hillary in 2008!!
Cisco,
You are right. Memory Man, go head and celebrate. You made your bed and now you have to sleep in it. Maybe this will finally ring the death knoll to the infamous talk radio. They will have to defend their "Good Ol' Boy" to their loyal followers for the next 4 years of mess that they created and now need to clean up. And we don't have to share any of the blame. Clean hands.
When everything goes sour, do you really think they are going to accept the blame ? The blame is going to somehow find its way to someone else, the pointy-headed liberals from Massachusetts, or the ay-rabs, or the French, or gay marriage people, ...
They operate an incredibly strong reality distortion field. And now they have the Executive, the Legislative, and (tune in next week) the Judiciary. The situation is grave.
We need every ounce of energy, strength, insight, creativity, humor, and intelligence we can get. Charles, your request for retirement has been declined ...
CChhuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk......don't let the right wingers get you down...just like Yankee fans... it's short lived and elite minded....the real people of this earth will unite...give them the 4 years to completely implode and then the REAL TEAM will take over...
Aloha Charles, it's been swell! See you at the polls in 4 more years ... mahalo for the good stuff you shared, and when you re-create please be in touch. Lots of aloha for all you gave us ... see you when King Kong falls ... Jim the Serf
Man, the Wahoo are really biting down here in the Sea of Cortez. BTW, you have the right idea Chuck, I've got a new P.O. box in San Felipe, B.C. I figure the unprecedented wave of terrorist activity W.'s re election will bring down on the U.S. won't make it this far south. Plus the chicks are killer. I've set up a my own film production company,' A Burro and 40 Hectares'. I'm gonna be the Spike Lee of Mexico. King after that.
Good luck everybody, don't forget to duck and cover.
Buena suerte y adios¡
Ah...who can really blame him for cashing out? What a disaster for our country's future. For years you made us laugh, think and try to change the world. Thanks, Charles-Live long and prosper.
Lady Artist 444,
Sounds like the only option you've got left seeing as things are that bad is Suicide. However I wouldn't recommend it! Stick aroung and I'm sure you can find some glimmer of hope!!
Chuck, hope you just hang out here a while, come and go, do coffee, muggle up, rant and chat, laugh and scream, what ever, ya gotta be somewhere...this site is your sovereign nation brother, unlike the land of idiots who have their "war president" and all that goes with it...
"Lady Artist 444,

'...And Scarecrow I think I will miss you most of all.' Danny, I will undoubtedly miss your inspired rantings and typical Republican compassion [sic]. See you when the levy breaks. That in itself gives me some glimmer of hope! Why, yes I think I do feel better.
I understand the disappointment. I understand the bitterness and concern. I even understand the blog self-destruct. But let's not forget that we've still got to get up every morning and breathe in and out all day long. Let's not become joyless. There is a lot in life for which to be grateful.
Thanks everybody for your thought-provoking points of view.
Amen! Let us also not forget that 48% of the country voted against Bush and that given his track record the Republicans will be in an untenable position in four years.
Another Hunter Thompson quote to ponder.
11/4/2004
From the Aspen Daily News
Article written by Troy Hooper
"I feel like somebody's died," Thompson lamented as the sun was preparing to rise early Wednesday morning. "I'm just not sure who it was."
He deemed the election "another failure of the youth vote."
"Yeah, we rocked the vote all right. Those little bastards betrayed us again."
But despite his disappointment, Thompson remained remarkably upbeat.
"Their army is how much bigger than mine? Three percent? Well shucks, Bubba. Now is the time to establish a network and an attitude," he said. "You make friends in moments of defeat. People in defeat tend to bond because they need each other. We can't take the attitude that it's over and we give up. We're still here."
Thompson added: "I'm proud to have known John Kerry."
Don't give up hope. A friend of mine heard a rumor that Bush has been drinking again for the past year and a half. That's why he looks so old and keeps falling off his bicycle. He'll be caught eventually. Then there'll be justice.
Remember Joe Martelle? He was the late Andy Moes' partner on "Joe & Andy" on WROR-FM during the 1980s. He was pissed off and disappointed back in 1996 when Clinton won his re-election. He thought that America would be destroyed by four more years of Clinton, but we all know that didn't happen. I am hoping and praying that won't happen and America will still be America after Bush finally leaves the White House.
Also, I am sorry that you're closing down the blog here. If you like, you can check out the John Byrne Forum at www.byrnerobotics.com and click forum. They have threads that deal with other topics beside comics like movies, TV, books, and music. I post messages there often.

Thanks, Charles. It was a fun ride here while it lasted. I still can't believe the bastards won. At least now they'll have no one to blame but themselves when the wheels come off the bus ... and they WILL come off the bus.
Keep the faith, brother. We'll be even stronger next time.
keep telling yourself that and you are assured defeat for the next several years. you cant bring about social and cultural change by shoving it down peoples thraots ie. margaret marshall and the massachusetts state supreme court. you cant sell it if no ones buyin it. I wish you all the best of luck. to steal a line or two from a local celeb, " if the sea dont rise and the earth dont fry and the good lords willin we'll do it all over again"
One final correction before the demise of the blog
regarding "no one's buying it": 48% of the electorate is "buying it", 54 million voters. It is also a distortion to pin gay marriage on Kerry, he belives gay unions are the appropriate choice & so does Dick Cheyney.
Good luck with the next four years. Your party is going to need it: Balloning deficit, quagmire in Iraq, stupid plans to "fix" social security, its going to be a wild ride.
I am not pinning homosexual marriage on Kerry. But Margaret Marshall didn't do the democrat party any favors by ordering the mass state legislature to pass a law making it (homosexual marriage) legal. Personally I am not against it. several dear close family members of mine are gay and have been with their partners for years. But the majority of the country is not ready for it. As for the next four years we will find out whether conservatism will work because aside from a few judge appointments the republicans will get everything they want and contrary to popular opinion I will change my views if they are proven wrong.
Stop the maddness!!! Tell the truth Chuck! Your not leaving cause of the election, you just want to spend more time in the Maui sun. Who can blame you, we are trying to move to Kauai. But still you should do the right thing and keep the blog going. Besides Kerry did not lose the election was stolen again. Go to GregPalast.com and you will see something is amiss.
One note to those of you who think that Bush will be blamed for the disater we are seeing. You are sadly mistaken. The Repugnatons will NEVER accept blame for the destruction they have wrought. They will still try to blame it on Clinton or activist judges (I meens them colored folk spouldnt never have been allowed to marry neither)
Come back Chuck, keep us sane. It's bad enough I gotta listen to Steve Sweeney or Howard every morning

More people voted AGAINST W than voted against any other president in American history !!!
Talk about a mandate ...
