Top 20 Things
Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:
1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a
conservative radio host. (Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for
your recovery).
2. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but
crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.
3. "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their
jobs to India.
4. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all of mankind without
regulation.
5. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
Clinton.
6. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches- while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
7. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
8. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, and then
demand their cooperation and money.
10. HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at
heart.
11. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health
care to all Americans is socialism.
12. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
creationism should be taught in schools.
13. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy
made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy
when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
14. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense.
A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.
15. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,
(which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet).
16. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George
Bush's Enron connections are none of our business.
17. Republican's support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft
can tell states which local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.
18. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but
what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade
with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

No most Republicans are not happy with Mr. Limbaugh's drug issues. I don't know of any Republicans that believe he should not be charged criminally .
>> 2. Government should relax regulation of
>> Big Business and Big Money but
The average Republican wants american business' and factories to stay in business and keep everyone employed.
> crack down on individuals who use marijuana
> to relieve the pain of illness.
The medicinal benefits of Marajuana are debateable.
>> 3. "Standing Tall for America" means firing
>> your workers and moving their jobs to India.
The average Republican is not happy when jobs move overseas.
> 4. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body,
Many republicans (not all) believe that there are TWO bodies involved...and that abortion shouldn't be used as birth control.
> but multi-national corporations can make
>> decisions affecting all of mankind without
>> regulation.
No, most republicans do not believe that. (You're thinking af liberatarians who have no values.)
> 5. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of
> homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
Yes Jesus loves you...he also loves homosexuals and Hillary.
>> 6. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches- while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
Wrong again. However, it's democrats that protest their own troops while they are in harms way....that Must build morale, huh?
>> 7. If condoms are kept out of schools,
>> adolescents won't have sex.
No, but I don't think it's a great idea to srtuff every 14 or 15 yo boys full of condoms.
BTW...Look at the towns with the biggest condoms distribution programs in the schools....LOwell, Lawrence, Boston....Look at the schools with the
Highest prego rates. (Gee, same towns.)
>> 8. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, and then
demand their cooperation and money.
Nor is a good way to kow-tow to the UN a good way to fight terrorism. Clinton really showed us how to take care of the problems didn't he?
>> 10. HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.
No, they are a business and have profits at heart. But socialized medicine doesn't work either. Look at Canada.

Come on, Charles, for all they are, you can't call them Hypocrites? Republicans do hold rigidly true to their wavering, though adamant tainted and biased beliefs. Without Compassion, Accountability and Justice there should be no possible political excuse for, the tax payer expense of., the looming DOR convention! Mary

Ummm...Yeah! That's looming GOP. Could be a Freudian slip ?
...Living just on the out side of Boston, I saw no actual benefit of that other recent political convection.

Thanks Charles, LOL, loved it and passed it on to a buncha folks, some of whom will no doubt be offended or have to respond line by line to it and defend Republicans, Bush, and all that bad programming...duhhh, shows how true this top 20 list is...but the others will say YES and pass it on also...the way I see it it's either democracy or da mockery.

Still a knee jerk lefty, eh, Charles? Funny, how you sneer about Republicans and Big Money, etc., etc., but it’s certainly fine for you to live in well-heeled retirement in Hawai’i, no less. But then again your politics were always well salted with hypocrisy.

Show a little backbone Chuck! Ain't over yet. I think for the first time I will wear a political button. But which topical Democratic version...shall Mary display? I had a great one in the '90's. Solid yellow pin-back, when someone would, invariably, ask me what it stood for? I answered. "Apathy".
Come on everyone we can win this time! Don't give up!
It is obvious that it is time for a CHANGE. Kerry, even if you don't like him personally, is that CHANGE. My only question is 'Why hasn't Kerry rushed forward in the poles?' Because he is not approachable. You could slap owl' G.W . on the back at a cook-out. But does that make him competent to speak for our country? No. Charm is not the only qualification for President. Period.

So what this list is saying is All Republicans bad and then all Democrats good.
Thanks for setting me straight Charles, now I know how the world works. Before I thought is was so gray but now its all black and white, simple to understand. Now I won't think about issues any more just agree with the "good" party's platform.

SB:
Good Republicans are an endangered species. I used to thing Collin Powell was one until he prostituted himself by selling "compelling evidence" to the UN to make the case for the war in Iraq.
I also used to think McCain was a good one too. Until I saw him hugging George Bush on the campaign trail. I bet he's hoping nobody digs up his quotes about Bush during the last primary...
