It's all about advisors

A friend of mine's observations; just wish someone could send it to someone who has influence in the Kerry camp. (before it's too late)

"My take on this election on the eve of the GOP convention...and it ain't pretty:

Karl Rove is playing John Kerry and company like a harp. Leading into the Republican convention, it should be clear to all that Kerry is clueless and Mary Beth Cahill and company are third-rate political clowns. They are losers and they will lose this election unless there is radical change.

Kerry led with his Vietnam service but was unprepared for nemesis O'Neill? Obviously. He couldn't land a punch in response, not to mention a knock-out punch. Instead, he and his campaign of belly-achers and professional whiners "complained to teacher." They got plenty of back-up in the press when needed, but even then couldn't deliver the knock out punch- and continued to whine, almost feebly, like "girlie-men!"

Kerry NEEDED TO LAND A KNOCK-OUT PUNCH PRE-GOP CONVENTION regarding the Swiftboat issue. He had to say something like, "Look, we've had weeks of this nonsense and here's my final statement on it: I served honorably in Vietnam. I was wounded, I won my medals. It's in the record and it's clear. The smear campaign against me led by a front for the Bush campaign—the same crowd that smeared John McCain—are liars, plain and simple. My opponent's daddy got him into the champagne unit of the National Guard, taxpayers spent a million dollars training him and he skipped out. That's the end of the story. Now I'm going to get back to talking about our nation's security and its future- and if George Bush, his party, the press or even the voters, want to believe the lies and the liars, there's not a damn thing I can do about it- but I'm not going to be a party to it anymore."

Instead, as late as Friday, Mary Beth Cahill and the DNC were sending Democrats whining e-mails about signing petitions to make the Swiftboaters go away. It was the ploy of LOSERS.

And what did Bush do yesterday?

In an interview with Matt Lauer, he delivered the knock out punch, saying something like "Look, Senator Kerry served honorably in Vietnam, he was a hero. I served too in the Guard, but look, he went overseas and I didn't, but we both served." Or something to that effect. SO, IT WAS BUSH WHO ENDED THE GAME, not Kerry! And the ads will continue to run....but Bush will get the benefit of the lies, and of his magnanimity! And Kerry is left to look weak and whining. Great.

You don't think this was planned by Karl Rove? Of course it was, and it worked! That's why his numbers are down. Not because of questions about his Vietnam service, but because when attacked, he can't fight! He can only whine like a victim. He did no better than when Dukakis was asked about what he would do if his wife was raped. Kerry was politically raped, but he didn't fight back.....

Now Kerry has been side tracked for 3 weeks, with no message and just the appearance of whining, weakness and the inability to fight his way out of a paper bag, when it was a fight of his making by leading with his Vietnam service, and having to answer to the charges he HAD to know were coming, but couldn't with force! How pathetic is that?

On top of that, I saw a clip of a campaign appearance in Washington state on Friday in which, in his bellowing, outdated, loud, "hot" impersonal oratorical tone he said something like "This campaign is about values. The other side talks about values. Meanwhile they are cutting after school programs so they can give tax cuts to Enron..." EXCUSE ME????? ENRON? That is such a bunch of yesterday's news. Even starting with the 'values' thing is pure defensiveness. It's stupid. The Enron line is stupid, lame, vapid and useless. That's the level of rhetoric coming from the Kerry camp the weekend before the GOP coronation?????

Kerry's oratorical style is stilted, old style and ineffective. TV is a cool medium, we all know that, Bush and Rove know it and both Bush and Cheney, say what you will, know how to play to it...cool, low key and personable. Bush talks one-on-one. Kerry? Loud, overbearing, old school, Kennedy-like. He might as well show up in madras shorts and white tennis sneakers!

It doesn't appear that anyone is getting him to modulate his style.

He's gonna lose, folks, unless there's a big change............. He's Dukakis all over again, Vietnam service or no Vietnam service...."
