be not.
No- this is not a Scientology or Jehova's Witness solicitation! (not that those are bad things..)

This is Ari-Jon Laquidara. My dad said I could post this on his blog, because it reinforces the possibility that he may not have wasted thousands of $ for my college education:
I'd like to tell you about a really exciting project two other students and I have been working on this summer. On September 19th, 2004, MIT will host a conference called "Collaborating for Peace in New England: The Human Brain Perspective." There, professors, students, activist organizations, and concerned members of the public will gather to explore the connection between individual health and societal peace. It will be a powerful opportunity for New Englanders to network and learn concrete ways to make peace, health, and happiness in themselves, their families, and the world at large.
We're starting to get some great steam built up for our event. Currently, we have 4 distinguished medical doctors from around the U.S. as well as a world-renowned peace leader, Dr. Ilchi Lee, coming to speak about this connection. Also, we just got a nobel-prize winning professor from MIT to agree to come; and we have a meeting planned with Noam Chomsky at the end of the month. What's more, Dr. Lee has been invited to speak at Harvard twice that week: once to discuss incorporating this into the curriculum (!) at the Harvard Medical School dept. of complementary medicine, and then again to give a talk at the Divinity School. So, as you can probably tell, we're all really psyched about the results so far!
I'm writing to you in hopes that you will be able to attend this conference..it'd be wonderful to have you there so you could see what I've been working on and be able to experience it for yourself. Also, our non-profit is looking to raise about $3000 to cover some of the base costs of our event (flying in speakers, renting the space, etc.). Do you think that you or anyone you know might be interested in donating for this cause?
Thanks so much!
Ari-Jon
