Other than that, David- What did you think of the movie?

David Brudnoy: Intelligent, often elitist and patronizing, far-right conservative Boston broadcaster and film critic, who likes to call himself a "Libertarian."
Because of his two media jobs, David has lots of clout in this city. When he's not talking politics, I personally like him (platonically speaking, of course).
This is Brudnoy's totally unbiased and objective review of Fahrenheit 9/11:
"Michael Moore's predictable slam at George W. Bush and the Bushies,
especially concerning the Iraq War, offers a few tidbits of interest, mainly
derived from Craig Unger's "House of Bush, House of Saud," while the bulk of
the tendentious thing is cheap-shot smirking at the awkward "W" and his
power-hungry honchos, as if Bush is uniquely silly, awkward, flawed. A huge
hit in Old Europe and soon to be a fave of the routinely lefty American film
critic cadre, the film is ideological screed, deceptive and bitterly unfair.
Its main sin, however, is that it is yawn-inducingly boring."

We loved the movie. Very powerful, definitely not boring. Of course, we took some of the info with a grain of salt because of the Michael Moore perspective. But we learned a lot--like about the refusal of even one senator to sign on to the ballot questioning of the Florida vote by the African Americans in the House.
I was a bit uncomfortable that it was so totally disrespectful of the President. (my sense of etiquette) But Bush doesn't deserve my respect in terms of his social, foreign, economic policies.

Hey Chuck,
I didn't realize that Bruds and Sebastian complement each other so well - i love that cross-generational shit!

I just returned from seeing "Farenheit 9/11" and am impressed that Moore's film and I agree on most points. Moore stretches the truth here and there, particularly about the point where members of Congress didn't read the Patriot Act before enacting it, but much of Moore's perspective isn't far off-base. It's also refreshing to know, after seeing the film, that right-wing conservatives won't enjoy having anywhere NEAR as successful a rebuttal!

Charles,
I remember talking to Brudnoy at movie screenings while I worked on the Mattress years ago. He always asked me if I knew how much money you were making at 'BCN.
As for "Fahrenheit" the biggest impression it made on me was just how much the big media/news outlets (and I admittedly work for one of them)weren't showing or telling the public about the war.

I met him once and found him like a Praying Mantis. Complex Streamlined. Ruthless. Cold

Just for the record it's the Female Praying Mantis that bites the head off the male after sex.
What a way to go :-)

I didn't get quite close enough to assess gender, but I'm sticking by my description. ; )
