The following is Charles' letter to his listening audience announcing his resignation

To all my fellow listeners and friends:

I guess it had to happen eventually, and I guess "eventually" has come to pass. I am currently in Hawaii to spend the rest of my life with my wife and family. It goes without saying that I have had an incredibly wonderful time doing radio in Boston for the last 30 years. Some of you may recall that I retired in Boston once before, back in 1976, and at that time I swore that I would never again return to radio. Well, of course, that changed drastically two years after that with the arrival of one Duane Ingalls Glasscock.

Two decades later, I've come to this point once again. I look forward now to many years of waking up at a "normal" time in the morning, staying up late like "adults" do each evening, and spending lots of quality time with family and friends. I think I can safely say that many of you reading this right now can share with me thousands of great memories of radio-years gone by. I wouldn't trade these times for all the tea in China, or for all the cash in Bill Gates's bank account, or for all the wishes in Aladdin's lamp - or, or - (Oh, you know what I mean!). Without getting too mushy here, let me just say from the very bottom of my soul: Thank you, Boston - Thank you, New England - Thank you, friends, family, listeners and colleagues.

My last full-time radio show in Boston was aired on August 4, 2000. Please know that I will cherish these past thirty years in a very special - and very sacred - place, no matter which part of the planet I am on.

So, if the creek don't rise, and if there ain't no meltdown, we'll do it all over again - another time, another way, another day. Thank you all again.

Light one up for the past - and light another one to the future...

Sincerely,

Charles Laquidara
