"I am not against guns..."
There is a big difference between being against guns, and being against the gun lobby. I am not against guns -- I just disagree philosophically with the N.R.A., the Gun Owners Action League and many other ultra-radical gun lobbies. Despite their whining to the contrary, the conservative faction of the N.R.A. is responsible for many of those loonies who are able to go out and buy assault weapons as easily as you buy batteries at a hardware store.

Children are being killed in droves - at malls, in schools and in their own homes because of their unrestricted gun-lobby policies; and if you're supportive of that kind of thinking, shame on you.  A doctor needs a license to practice medicine, a car owner needs a license to drive his automobile, a pilot to fly a plane, and certainly a gun owner should be checked out thoroughly, licensed and registered just like the rest of us who have responsibilities.  If you've got a problem with that because of some warped misinterpretation of our Constitution, then you are a part of the problem.

I own three guns, and I have a license to carry my Smith & Wesson stainless .357 magnum, which I take with me at all times - to protect myself against criminals - and against all of the crazies out there whom the N.R.A. is arming.
